ORDINANCE NO. /10r)
An Ordinance providing for the construction of certain sewers in the
city of Salina and letting the contract therefor.
Be it Ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the city of Salina:
Section 1. That it is necessary and hereby ordered that
the following described sewers be built and constructed in the city
of Salina, Kansas, to -wit:
(1). A ten (10) inch.lateral sewer on Johnstown Avenue,
commencing at the intersection of Front Street and Johnstown Avenue,
running,thence east on Johnstown Avenue -to Penn Avenue.
(2). A ten (10) inch lateral sewer on Penn Avenue commenc-
ing at the present manhole on Iron Avenue where it connects mith the
main sewer and runs thence North on Penn Avenue to a point on Ash
Street.
(3). Atten (10) inch lateral sewer on Ash Street and in
alley in block 6, Riverside Park Addition to Salina, commencing at
the manhole at the intersection of Ash Street and Penn Avenue, thence
west about 200 feet, thence north in the alley of block 6 in above
addition to a point north of Elm Street.
(4). A ten (10) inch -sewer on Ash Street.and in alley in
block 7 Riverside Park Addition commencing at the intersection of Ash
Street and Penn Avenue, thence east about 200 feet, thence north in
the alley of block 7 in above addition on Elm Street.
(5). A ten (10 ) inch lateral sewer on V1*z*x21xxztxxxt
Highland Avenue and a twelve (12) inch sewer on Wilson Street, com-
mencing at the manhole at the intersection of Wilson Street with Santa
Fe Avenue and runs.west on Wilson street to Highland Avenue, thence
south on Highland Avenue to Republic Avenue, thence west on Republic
Avenue about 80 feet, thence south on Highland Avenue to ,Ulaflin
Avenue.
(6). A ten (10) inch lateral sewer on Claflin Avenue com-
mencing at the present stub on -the east side of Santa Fe Avenue
running thence east on Claf lin Avenue to Fourth Street.

(7). A ten (10.) inch lateral sewer on Eleventh Street commenc-
ing at the present stub on the south side of South Street and running
thence south on Eleventh Street to Washington Avenue.
(�) A ten (10) inch lateral swwer on Park Street commencing at
the present manhole at the intersection of Park Street and Tenth Street
running thence west on Park Street to College Avenue.
(9). A ten (10) inch lateral sewer on Baker Street, commencing
at the present manhole at the intersection of Baker Street and Walnut
Street, thence sunning south on Baker Street to a point near Spruce
Street.
Sec.2. That the plans and specifications of the city engineer
for such sewers as are mentioned and described in Section One hereof,
now on file with the city clerk, are hereby adopted and approved as
the plans and specifications for all the sewers provided for herein,
and such plans and specifications are hereby incorporated in and made
a part of this ordinance in all respects as if the same were written
out in full herein, and such work herein and such pland.and specifica-
tions provided for shall be done in accordance with such pland and
specifications, and under the direction of the city engineer of the
city of Salina.
Sec.3. That a contract be and is hereby let to

instead of levying the entire tax or special assessment at one time,
and for such installments the mayor and council ,are hereby.authorized

ments of equal amounts each year, none of which bonds or the install- '
ments thereof shall run longer than ten years or bear interest -exceed-
ing five t5) per cent per annum. Such bonds may be issued to the con-
tractor constructing such improvements in payment thereof, or the.,mayor
and.co'Vncil may sell said bonds, at not less than their par value, and
pay the proceeds thereof to the contractor, and such bonds shall be,
of such denominations as the mayor and council may deem proper.) And
for the purpose of paying principal and interest on -said bonds �s they
severally become due, the mayor and council shall each year, du$�ing
the life of said bonds, levy an assessment against all taxable real
estate in said city'at the assessed value thereof for general revenue
purposes, exclusive of improvements, in an' amount sufficient to pay

the principal and interest for that year; and the city clerk shall
certify such assessmentb, as they are sev§rally made, to the county
clerk of Saline county, Kansas, 'at the same time arid, in the same
manner as other city taxes are certified.
Sec. ,5. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force
from and after its publication ince in the Salina Evening Journal..
