Be it ordained by the..Mayor and Councilmen of the City.-of.Salina:
Section 1. That for the purpose of ce
paying the cost and a nse of
curbing and -guttmring Claf lin avenue, in, the city of Salina, Kansas,, be-
tween a point 120 feet west of the west line .of Santa'-Fe avenue andthe.
west line of. Fourth' street," there are hereby levied and assessed special
.assessments on all lots-and pieces of 'ground to the center of the block
on either side of Baid Claflin-avenue.,,'between the limits -above set.
forth, according to the.appraiaed value of the same without regard to the .
buildings or improvements thereoni said special assessments being based
on the special, valuation and appraisement of said lots and pieces ' of
ground heretofore made-by three disinterested householders or appraisers
appointed by the mayor and council of the city of Salina, and the several.
amounts' levied, apportioned and assessed against each let and piece of
ground, liable for � the .cost thereof; according to. the benefits-to be
ddrived by reason of the curbing and guttering of said'Claf lin. avenue,
between the limits hereinbefore, defined,, area described and designated

shall be due and collectible.. in one installment, the same becoming due
with . the taxes :for the year 1910,: and, to. be collected .with interests as.
in thi.s,'.ordinance provided ,Provided, that the
owner of any piece of
propertp liable for .such special assessmentmay redeem his property from
such liability by paying.into the cite`treasury the entire amount of
such assessment charged against the. sante has in .this ordinance designated,
at any. time within thirty X30) days after :the publication of this ordi-
nance, and his property so paiUon :shall not thereafter' be liable for ,
any further assessment " for the .cost of said .improvement:
Sec., -Z, ;. That there : ,io 'hereby. further `le'vied°: and. assessed against
each ,lot.,and piece of ground described'in section one of thin ordinance
size . (6),.per cent interest -per.; annum on:.the, respective. assessments
therein mentioned, ' for the period of one..year,. and until the' collection
of such installments,' as -provided,by law, .Vvhi6h interest shall be col-. , .
lected' at the, same time and `in the .same manner as said installments;
and -after, thirty (30) days from'the taking effect of this. ordinance it
shall be the' duty of the city•clerk to certify to the'.'county .clerk of
Saline' county,. Kansas., a full list of all property liable to taxation
and assessment for such work and. improlement, -except such property on
which the,special.assessments aforesaid have been paid in full, as
herein provided, together with the respective amounts due on each of
said tracts, pieces and; parcels of land, vrhi.ch amounts. shal]: include the
installments and. the interest on the same for one. year. at the :rate of
six (b) per cent per annum as aforesaid, and such amounts so cerci
f ied shall be collected as ' other taxes and assessments are collected.
