1559 Special Election Issue Bonds(Published in the Salina Evening Journal July 4 ; 1910) ORDINANCE N0. o An ordinance providing for and calling a special election in the city of Salina, Kansas, for the purpose of submitting to the electors of said city a proposition to authorize the mayor and council of said city to issue bonds in the sum of forty thousand (40,000) dollars, to raise money with which to erect and construct a city building for said city of Salina. Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Salina: Section 1. That a special election be and the same is hereby called, to be heldin the city of Salina, Kansas, on Tuesday, the 2nd day of August, 1910, for the purpose of submitting to the electors of said city of Salina the proposition whether or not the mayor and council of said city shall be aut horized.to issue the bonds of said city, in the sum of forty thousand (409000) dollars, for the purpose of raising money with which to erect and construct a city building for said city of Salina. Sec. 2. Said bonds proposed to be issued shall be of the denomi- nation of one thousand (1,000) dollars. each, they shall be made payable in �--Zo ears from the date of their issue,, shall bear interest at the rate of e- - -- �1�4,t.Aper cent per annuu, payable semi- annually, for which interest coupons shall be attached, and shall be reg- istered according to law. Sec. 3. Said special election shall be held at the voting places in the several wards of the city, between the hours of eight o'clock a. m• and six o'clock p. m. on the said 2nd day of August, 1910; and such special election shall be governed in all. respects and the result thereof declared as is provided by the general election laws of the State of Kansas; Provided, that if a majority of all the votes cast at such spec- ial election on such proposition so to be voted upon shall be in favor thereof, the said bonds may be issued, and not otherwise. See. 4. The manner of voting at such special elect1tp shall be by ballot, and the ballots used -shall be in substantially the following form: To vote in favor of any question submitted upon this ballot, make a cross (X) mark in the square after the word Yes; to vote aginst it, make a similar mark in the square after the mord No. SHALL THE FOLLOWING BE ADOPTED? 11roposition to issue bonds of the City of Salina, Kansas, in the sum of Forty Thousand (409000 ) ' T._ Dollars, for the purpose of erecting and con- structing a city building for the City of N0. Salina• and on the back of each such ballot shall be printed, in addition to the endorsement prescribed for general city ballots, the words "question submitted." See. 5. The mayor of said city is -hereby authorized and directed to give notice of such special election' by proclamation, stating therein the amount of bonds proposed to be issued, the purpose of the issue and state the polling places at which such special election will be held. Said proclamation shall be signed by the mayor and city clerk and shall (��be published in the offical city paper for �-�- rconaecutive days, the first publication of which proclamation to be made at least i e days prior to the said 2nd day of August, 1910. Sec. 6. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its publication once in the Salina Evening Journal. At Passed and approved June 30, 1910• Mayor.
