Ah ordinance providing for the re air and reconstruction of certain
Sidewalk in the city Salina, Kansas.
Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Salina: --
Section 1. That the owner or owners of the lots and pieces of
ground abutting Iron avenue, on both sides thereof, between the east end
of the Iron avenue bridge east to etret, in the city of
Salina, Kansas, shall, on or before the --O®`=qday of , 19 /of
cause the sidewalks abutting such lots and pieces if ground
be repaired and reconstructed by raising the same, as hereinafter pro*
vided.
Sec. 2. That the grade of such sidewalk when raised and repaired
as herein provided shall correspond with the grade of said Iron avenue
as now established by ordinance.
Sec. 3. The committee on sidewalks of the city council shall, as

soon as practicable after the saidday of cause
the sidewalk abutting the lots and pieces of ground aforesaid to be
raised and repaired as in this ordinance provided where the owner or
owners thereof fail and refuse to so repair the same, and shall report
their proceedings together with the cost of such repair work to the city
council.
Sec. 4. The expense of raising and repairdng such sidewalk as here«
in provided shall be assessed against the real estate abutting thereon
according to +,fie front foot thereof, and collected as other taxes are
collected; Provided, however, that the cost and expense of the dirt fill-
ing necessary to raise such sidewalk to the grade of said Iron avenue, as
herein provided, shall be borne by the city.
Sec. 5. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and
after its publication once in the Salina Evening Journal.
