ORD INANCE
An ordinance amending section seven of Ordinance No. 1143, being an or-
dinance entitled "an ordin.providing for th.e tapping of sewers
of the city of Salina; fixing .and reguulating t-heAr use by private
individuals ''prescribing ther, in which-, connections shall be
made With the main and lateral elm.., establishing rules and -regu-
lations for their. use, prohibitiit mgdntenance and use of cess-
pools within certain limits, and fe ealing Ordinances numbered 725
and 1124,0 passed and approved July •2j j 1902; 'and repealing such
.original section seven so amended.
Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of 'Salina:--
Section
alina:--Section 1. That section, seven (7) of Ordinance No. 1143, passed
an ordinance
and approved July 21, 19029 being entitled "an ordinance providing for the
tapping of severs of the city of Salina, fixing and regulating their
use by private individuals, -prescribing the manner in Vbich connections
shall be made *ith the main and,lateral sewers, establishing rules and
regulations for theiruse, prohibiting the maintenance and use of cess-
pools
esspools within certain limits, and repealing Ordinances numbered 725 and
11241" be and the same is hereby -amended to read as follows:
Sec. 7. No person company or corporation shall be permitted to ex-
cavate -or-build any cess -pool, - privy vault or other receptacle for storage
of excrement, garbage, slops, or other refuse on any lots or lands in the
city of Salina which may abut on'.or be located near any street or alley
on which there is a public serer,, and it shall be the duty of all persons,
companies or corporations owning buildings within the city of Salina,
to catednwi hin connecting distance of any ' sewer to connect such buildings
with the sewers of the city? and any person, company or corporation who
shall excavate or build any cesspool in violation of the provisions of thi
this section,'or who shall failtx to connect with the city -sewers, as
herein provided, for more than t rV-( days after. being notified in
writing
so to do
by the
chairman of the Committee on Public Health of
the city
council,
shall
be deemed guilty of- a misdemeanor and shall,
upon conviction, thereof in the police court, be fined in any sum not
exceeding one hundred dollars.
Sec.• 2• That section seven (7) of Ordinance No. 1143 be and the
same is hereby repealed.
Sec. 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and
aft er - its . publicat ion once in the Salina Keening Journal.
