1504 Construct Telephone & Telegraph Plant.
Au ordinanoe .,granting to Frank Hageman, his successors and assigns, the
right to construct and operate an electric telephone and telegraph plant
in the City of Salina, Kansas• '
$E IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCILMEN OF THE CITY OF SALINA:
SECTION I. That permission be and the, same is hereby granted to
Frank Deman, his successors and assignee for the period of twenty
years only, from the date: of the passage of this ordinance, but not ex-
olusively, to oonstraat, maintain and operate an electric telephone:
and telegraph plant and all the appliances for the same in the city of
Salina, in, along, upon and over the streets, alleys, avenues and high-
ways of said city, except Stanta Fe avenue between South street and North
Street,. subjeot however to all the general provisions of statute and the
ordinances of said oity, and more especially Ordinanoe So. 848 of said
oitye anal to such reasonable rales and regulations of a public nature re-
specting'the right and franchise hareby granted, and to such reasonable
rules and regulations respecting the use of said streets, alleys, avenues
and highways, as tYie Mayor and oounoil may from time to time enact, and
subject further to the following conditions and regulations: All the posts
and poles used in.the construction of said plant,, shall be reasonably
straight, and not less than twenty, -five 9eet in height, and so placed as
not to interfere with, impede or obstruct the atreets, alleys, avenues
and highways aforesaid., That in the construction of said plant, said
streetse alleys, avenues and highways shall not be gneoessarily impaired,
and shall be left in as good condition as whin entered upon, for any disc
tante over which said plant is constructed. The said Frank Hageman, his
successors and assigns, during the continuance of this franchise shat

Mayor and council. That said plant shall be in continued operation in
said city.: within one year from the ,date of the passage of this ordinance
otherwise all ,rights herein granted shall be and become: faffeited; and

ally, to use and'oeoupy, free of charge, any or all the posts and poles
placed under this franchise and during the life thereof, with the wires
and alarm boxes o�a fire alarm telegraph system belonging to the said
city of Salina.
Sec. 2. The franchise hereby granted shall not pass to any
assignee of or successor to said Frank Hageman or those claiming under
him or them, until the name of any such assignee or successor shall be
furnished, in writing to the city clerk, the same to be preserved and,
kept on file by said clerk.
Sec. 3. This ordinance shall toke effect and be in 40rce from jbg�e�j
