An ordinance providing for the issuance of bonds of the cit of Salina

of portions of Santa Fe avenue in said city. I
Whereas, in pursuance of proceedings duly had. -and taken according

to law contracts have been let and completed for the improvement of that
portion of Santa Fe avenue, in the city of Salina, between the south
side of Walnut street and the south side of Crawford avenue; and the
total cost of the said improvements have been ascertained,.and the por-
tion thereof to be'paid by a goner "tax to bele ied upon all of the

Monts upon the lots and pieces of ground , payable in ten annual in-

stallments, according to law, and the amount for which bonds are -to be
issued in anticipation of.said special assessmentswhich remain unpaid

Whereas,.all legal requirements have been fully complied with.to
authorize the'issuance'of bonds oh account of said improvements,therefore,
Be it ordained by the Hayor'and Councilmen of the city of Salina:
Section.l. That there'shall be issued on account of said street
improvements a series of bonds of the city of Salina, Kansas, in the

Sec. 2.. That said bonds shall be signed by the mayor and attested
by the clerk of the city -and shall have the.corporate seal of the city
attached thereto, and the interest coupons to said bonds -shall be signed
by said clerk, and,both bonds and coupons shall be payable at the fiscal
agency of the State of Kansas in the city of Topeka, in said state.
Sec. 3. Said bonds shall be executed in the form and shall contain
recitals substantially as follows:

and things required to be done and to exist precedent to and in the
issuing -of -thio bond have -been proerly done and. performed and do exist
in regular 'and due form as requireg' by the constitution and laws' of the
State of Kansas and that the total.indebtedness of said city including
this series-.oflonds, does not exceed the constitutional or statutory
limitations

Sec: 4. The interest coupons to be attached to said bonds shall
be substantially.in,the,following form, to -wit;

Sec. 5. . That the mayor and city clerk are hereby authorized,
without unnecessary delay, to prepare and execute said bonds, and that
when executed they shall be registered with the city clerk of Salina,
the county clerk of Saine county,Kansas, and by the auditor of State of
the State of Kangas, as required by law, and shall be by the mayor of
said city delivered to the contractors.constructing such improvements,
in proportion to the amount ba of money due each of said contractors,
in payment for the said improvements made by them, or,, the mayor and
council may sell said bonds, and out of the proceeds thereof pay said
contractors; Provided, that if said bonds are delivered to said.contrac«
tors, as aforesaid, the said contractors shall xxind repay to the city
of Salina all "Sums of money heretofore advanced by said city to said con-
tractors on account of said improvements;, and that the mayor and council
shall annually make provision for the payment sof the principal and in-
terest of said.bonds, as the same shall become due, by levying an as-
sessment upon the property liable therefor.
Sec.. 6. This ordinance shall take effect. and be in force from and
after its publication once in the Salina Levning Journal.
