An ordinance relating to the taking of contract and other bonds by the
city of Salina.
Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the city of Salina:
Section L That hereafter all .bonds for the use, benefit or pro-
tection of the city of Salina, required to.be taken by the statutes of
the State and.the ordinances of :the,city-or resolution of the city coun-
cil from any person` or co
oration to secure the faithful performance of
any contract with the,city, or.to indemnify the city against loss, dam-
age.or liability growing out of any contract with the city, or out of
the issuance of -any license.or permit by:he city where a,bond is re-
quired, shall be signed and executed as surety by some guaranty, bonding
or indemnity company of recognized responsibility and lawfully doing
business in the.State.of Kansas, and that hereafter no individual, bond
shall be accepted and approved by the mayor and council in such cases;
Provided,,What nothing herein shall apply to any bond given to the city
of Salina by any elective or appointive -officer or by any employee of
said city.
Sec..2. All bonds herein provided for shall be signed,by the party
or -parties from whom said bond is required in addition to the surety on
said bonds, and except where otherwise provided by law/the said bonds
shall be made to the city of Salina.
Sec. 3. All bonds herein provided for, including the application
for the same, shall be submitted to and approved by the city attorney;
and after such approval by the city attorney such bonds shall be approved
by the mayor and council.
Sec. 4. This ordinance shall take. effect and be in force from and
after its: publication once in the official city paper.
