1460 Appraise Salina Water WorksORDINANCE An ordinance concerning the purchase and appraisement of the Salina water works, of Salina, Kansas; appointing an appraiser on behalf of the city of Salina, to make appraisement thereof, defining such appraiserts duties and fixing his compensation, and re- pealing Ordinances nwnbered 884 and 902. Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Salina: -- Section 1• That the city of Salina, Kansas, hereby decides and determines to purchase and become the sole owner of the Salina water works, and all extensions thereof, together with all buildings, ma- chinery and property of every description belonging and appertaining thereto, by paying therefor, to the owner or owners thereof, the value of said water works and property, to be ascertained by appraisement as provided by section eight (8) of Ordinance No. 327 of the printed ordi- nances of the city of Salina, entitled "an ordinance to provide a system of water works and a supply of water to the city of Salina and the in- habitants thereof." Sec. 2. That for the purpose of making the appraisement of said water works and property, as provided in said section eight of said Ordinance No. 327, and in compliance therewith, the City of Salina hereby selects and appoints, as its appraiser, _ �, of Salina, Kansas. Sec. 3. Said appraiser so selected and appointed as aforesaid shall file his acceptance of such appointment in writing with the city clerk within three (3) days after the publication of this ordinance. Sec. 4. It shall be the duty of said appraiser designated in section two hereof to act in conjunction with any person or persons who may be selected or appointed under and by virtue of the provisions of section 8 of Ordinance No. 372 of the printed ordinances of the city of Salina; and in conjunction with such person or persons to make a true inventory ,and operation of all the property and material used in the constructionAof the water works system of the Salina Water Works company, and to make and return to the mayor and council of said city a true appraisement of the actual cash value of all such material and property and of said water works system at the time of such appraisement., which said inventory and appraisement shall be made under oath of the said appraisers aforesaid. C f. Sec. 5. The said appraiser so appointed in section 2 hereof shall receive as compensation for his services under this ordinance the sum of �® dollars per day for the time necessarily employed in the per- formance of the duties hereunder,- which shall be in full compensation for his services for such duties. Sec. 6. That the owner or owners of the said Salina water works be and they are hereby required, within thirty (30) days from and after the publication of this ordinance, to appoint an appraiser to act in con- junction with the appraiser hereinbefore appointed by the city of Salina, to appraise the property mentioned in section one (1) of this ordinance; in accordance with the provisions of section eight (8) of said Ordi- nance No. 372. Sec. 7. Within ten (10) days after the appointment of the said ap- praiser to be appointed by the owner or owners of the said Salina water works, as provided in section six hereof, and not later than forty (40) days from and after the publication of this ordinance, the owner or owners of said Salina mater works shall cause its said appraiser to meet with the appraiser hereinbefore appointed by the said city, at the office of the city clerk of the city of Salina, Kansas, and said two appraisers shall, without delay, select a third appraiser to act with them in making an appraisement of the said property mentioned and described in section one (1) of this ordinance, in accordance with the provisions of this or- dinance and Ordinance No. 372. Sec. 8. That the city clerk of said city is hereby required to deliver a certified copy of this ordinance together with a certified copy of the acceptance of said appraiser appointed by the city herein to the owner or owners of said Salina water works, or to the person in eharge thereof, within five (5) -days after the taking effect of this ordinance. Sec. 9. That Ordinance No. 884, passed and approved May 20, 1895, and Ordinance No. 902, passed and approved Oct. 22, 1895, be and each of them are hereby repealed. Dec. 10.
