Whoreas, the city of Salina, Kansas, is a city of the second,class
with less than ten thousand inhabitants; thorofore,

Section 1. That it is necessary and hereby ordered thaVe

line on either side of said street, except at the intersections of streets

Sec. 2, That all excavatings filling and tamping necessary for the.,
proper construction of.such curbing and guttering shall be done.
See, 3. That the plans, specifications and profiles of the city
engineer, now on file with the oity.clark, for the curbing and guttering
of said street,within.tho limits defined, are hereby adopted and approved

See. 4.' That after the passage of t1jis ordinance the mayor and
council shall appoint three disinterested householders, whog after ha7inc
taken an oath to and im4rti,ally appraise. all lots and pieces
of ground liablo to taxation for the I:Vrovement horein,provided for,
shall, within ton days after having been notified of their appointment,
proceed to appraise said lots and pieces of ground liable to taxation,
,oifthout regard to any -buildings or iiVrovemento thereons and after makiab
said appralsemen t shall return the same to the cltf council at the first
meeting therpof after such appralsement shall have been completed, and
after said appraisement Is returned to the city council the. may -or. and
council shall designate a time for holding a special session for the pur-
pose of hearing co.T-1aInts and equalizing said appralsement, of which
special soosion due notice shall be given in tho. official pity paper, and
at said opocial session the -iMayor and council. shall,, if they den it just
and proper, alt,er or ehange such appraisement,
See. 6, That After the pasage and publication of this ordinance the
city clerk shall advertise for bids for the construction of said curbing
and guttering n the official city paper, and such other publications or,
journals a s the mayor and council may direp , and the constaract for such

=oi nts. each year, none of which: bonds nor any., installment thereof shall.

bonds at not less than. their par value and pay the proceeds thereof to tho
contractor, and such bands shall be of.such denomination as' tho mayor and
council- may deem .proper. And, fe r` `the -purposed of pIa►ying principal and
interest on said bonds, as they severally become due, the mayor and council
shall each year,,. during the life of said bonds, levy an assessment against
