An ordinan a letting the contract for the construction of certain sewers
in the city of Salina.
Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the city of Salina: --
Section 1. That a contract be and is hereby let to J. M. Chain & Co.,
a co-partmership, of Wie bita, Kansas, for the construction of the following
described sewers in the city of Salina, Kansas, to -wit:
A ten inch sewer on Prescott avenue, with four manholes and nine
catch basins for said sewer.
A twelve inch sewer on South and Bifth streets with four manholes.sxt
A ten inch sewer on State street, with three manholes and eight
catch basinsr for said sewer.

with
two manholes and two
catch basins for said sewer;
at and for the total sum or price of Six thousand, six hundred fifty-
four and 22100 (6,654.22) dollars, whic'n
ftx sum is hereby found not to exceed the estimate of the cost of such
work and improvement made by the city engineer and now on file with the
city clerk, said sun or price to include and coverall the cost of labor
and material for constructing such sewers according to the specifications
therefor of the city engineer, now on file with the city clerk.
Sec. 2. Such sewers shall be built and constructed by said J. M.
city
Chain & Co. in strict conformity with thowngineer's plans and specifi-
cations tierefor.
Sec. 3- Said J. M. Chain & Co. shall execute to the city of
Salina a good and sufficient bond in the own of $2,000.009 conditioned
for the faithful performance of their said contract, and shall execute a
further bond to said city, in the total sum of said contract, saving the
city of Salina ha naless from all claims or liens of laborers and mater-
ial men in the construction of said sewres•

Sec. 4. The city attorney is hereby instructed t o. prepare a con-
tract with said J. M. Chain & Co. for the construction of all the sewer
desdribed in this ordinance and zmft Ordinance No. 1442, and in accord-
ance with the specifications therefor, and that the mayor and clerk of
said city execute said contract for and on behalf of said city.
Sec. 5. This ordinance small take effect and be in force from and
after its publication once in the Salina Evening Journal.
