1435 Levy Special Assessments(Published in the Salina Evening Journal, August , 1908)
ORDINANCE NO.
An ordinance amending Section 6 of Ordinance No. 1425, being an ordi-
nance entitled "an ordinance relating to apportioning and
levying a special assessment on certain lots and pieces of
ground in the city of Salina, Kansas, to pay the cost of pav-
ing, curbing and excavating Santa Fe avenue in.said city between
Walnut and Mulberry streets, Mulberry and South streets, South
street and Prescott avenue, and between Prescott and_.Crawfdrd
avenues, and relating to the collection thereof;" passed and
approved June 29, 1908, and repealing such original section
so amended.
Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the city of Salina: --
Section 1. That section 6 of Ordinance No. 1425, passed and ap-
proved

proved June 29, 1908, being an ordinance entitled "an ordinance relating
to apportioning and levying a special assessment on certain lots and
pieces of ground in the -city of Salina, Kansas, to pay the cost of
paving, curbing and excavating Sante. Fe avenue in said city between
Walnut and Mulberry streets, Mulberry and South streets, South street
and Prescott avenue, and between Prescott and Crawford avenues, and
relating' -to the collection thereof," be amended so as to read as fol-
lows: "Sec. 6• Said amounts levied,.apportioned and assessed aforesaid
shall be due and collectible in ten equal annual installments, the first;
becoming due in the year 1909, and one,of said installments each and
every year thereafter, and all to be collected with interest, as in this
ordinance provided; Provided, that the owner of any piacp of property
liable for any such special assessment may redeem his property from such
liability by paying into the city treasury the entire amount chargeable
against the same, as in this ordinance designated, at any time within
thirty days after the publication of this ordinance and before the is -
seance of the bonds of said city., and his property so paid on shall not
thereafter be liable.for any f4tther assessment for the cost of said
work nor for the said bonds.fl
Sec. 2. That original section six or Ordinance No. 1425 be and
the same is hereby repealed..
Sec. 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and
after its publication once in the Salina Evening Journal.
