1415 Letting Street Improvementsm (Published in the Salina. Evening Journal April, , 1908) ORDINANCE NO./�W_ An ordinance letting contracts for the curbing of certain streets in the city of Salina, Kansas. 'Whereas, under the provisions of Ordinances numbered 1406, 1407, 14081 14090 1410 and 1411, passed and approved Larch 30, 1908, the mayor and council advertised for bids for the curbing of both sides of the streets in 'such ordinances named and.defined, which advertisement for bids is hereby approved and ratified; and, 'Whereas, bids for such curbing have been filed with the city clerk, and the bid or proposal of -` V � � of Hutchinson, Kansas, is hereby found to be the lowest and most responsible bid for the curbing of said streets, and the cost of curbing such streets under such bid or proposal will not exceed the estimate of the cost of such work and im- provements here&6fore made by the city engineer and now on file with the city clerk; az# therefore, Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the city of Salina: -- Section 1. That six separate contracts be -and are hereby let to r a .copartnership, of Hutt-hinson, Kansas, curbing for the of the -following streets in'the city of Salina, Kansas, to -wit: Sante Fe avenue, between the south side of Walnut street and Ithe south side of Crawford avenue; Seventh street, between the north side of Walnut street and the north side of Elm street, excepting the square formed by the crossing of Seventh street -with Iron avenue; Fifth south street, between the xmrtk line of.Walnut street and the egrik south side of Iron avenue and the north side of Ash street and the north side of Elm street; Ash street between the vast side of Fourth atreet and the east side of Sev .,,. the squares formed by the crossing of Ash. street with Santa Fe avenue and Fifth street; Walnut street, between the east side of Fifth street and the west side of Seventh street, ex- cepting the square formed formed by the crossing ofiWalnubtstreet wl# Santa Fe avenue; and Elm street, between the west side of Fourth street and the west side of Seventh street, excepting the squares formed by the crossing of Elm street with Fifth street and Santa Fe avenue,,with cement and stone curbing, as set forth in the plans and specifications of the city engineer, at and for the uniform price of forty-four (44) cents per lineal foot for six (6) inch cement curb; thirty-nine and one- half (39 1/2) cents per lineal foot for cement curb five (59) inches in thictness, and ��-� cents per lineal foot for stone curbing. Sec. 2. That such iidxxxxxxxtim curbing shall be done in. accordance with the provisions of Ordinances numbered 1406, 1407, 1408, 14091 1410 and 1411, and the plans and specifications therefor which are a part of said ordinances and this ordinance. Sec. 3. Payment for the work an+mprovements herein contemplated shall be made to the contractors in improvement bonds of the city of. Salina, or in cash, at the option of the said city. Sec. 4. That such contractoks will be required to execute to the city of Salina a good and sufficient bond, as required by the laws of the State of Kansas, for the purpose of securing the payment of all claims for labor and material done and furnished for the work and im- provement herein contemplated. Sec. 5. The city attorney is hereby instructed to prepare a contract 0 with the sai ::!i�s . for the work and improvement herein awarded to them, in accordance with the city engineer's plans and specifl-- cations and the ordinances therefor, and that the mayor, or acting mayor, and city clerk shall execute said contract on behalf of said city.
