2191 Improve Penn Avenue1 J 1 1 1 ORDIN.ZUR NO. 2191 (eublished'in the Salina Daily union, June 8th, 1918.) An ordinance specifying -and selecting the paving material to be used and letting the contract for the paving and excavating of certain streets in the City of Salina, Kansas. Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Salina: Section 1. The Mayor and Council hereby determine that Penn A.Venue in the City of Salina, from tge north line of Iron .venue to the north line of Ash 6treet shall be paved with one - course vitrified vertical fiber side wire out Buffalo Brick Paving blocks, or brick equally as good, two and one-half (2.1/2) inches deep with Texaco Asphaltic Piller, or filler equally as good, on a four (4) inch Jortland Cement concrete base with one and -one-half (1-1/2) inch sand cushion, Such pavement within the limits above defined shall be 31 feet in width from gutter to gutter. All excavating, rolling and .filling necessary for the proper construction of such pavement shall be done and such pave- ment shall br laid and constructed on the established grade of such streets and shall return to the lot line at the intersection of said street with any other street or alley. Sec. 2. all excavating, filling and rolling necessary for the proper construction of such improvements -shall be made and done in strict confromity to and in compliance with the plans and spa- cifications heretofore made by the City Engineer and now on file with the City Clerk, which plans and specifications are hereby in- corporated in and made a part hereof in all respects as fully and completely as though writeen out at length herein. Such plans and specifications are hereby adopted as and for the plans and speci- fications for such work and improvement. See. 3. The contract is hereby awarded to M. R. Amerman for the paving, excavating and filling of the above mentioned street within the limits above defined with the material specified in Section One hereof at a price of $2.32 per square yard for such pavement actually laid and put in place on said street and the said M. R. Amerman shall be paid at the price of 58¢ per cubic yard for all dirt actually removed from such street; all of said pavement and excavating is to to be paid for according to the measurement thereof by the City Engineer of the City of Salina and the Mayor and Council hereby find tnd determine that the price herein agreal and specified to be paid for the improvements aforesaid are less than the estimated price and cost of such as made and furnished by the City Engineer and now on file with the City Clerk. x:54 ca c., See. 4. Such contract � is awarded upon the. express con dition that such work and improvement shall be done in strict accordance with and in compliance with the plans and specifica- tions of the City Engineer therefor, which are hereby made a padrt of this ordinance, and of the contract hereby awarded, and upon the further condition among others, that the said M. R. Amerman shall give to the City of Salina, a surety bond in the approximate sum of the costs of such improvements, guaranteeing the proper and workmanlike construction of all of such improve- ments and guaranetting such pavement against all defects for a period of five (5) years from the date of its completion and acceptance by said City.
