2130 Improve Eighth StreetH ORDINANCE N0..2130 Published in the Salina Daily Union December An ordinance specifying and selecting the paving material to be used and letting the contract for the paving and excavating of certain streets in the city of Salina, Kansas. Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City 'of Salina: Section 1. The Mayor and Council hereby determine that Eighth Street in said City from south line of Elm Street to the north line of Ash and Mulberry Street in said City, from the east line of Santa Fe Avenue to the west line of Fifth Street, shall each and all be paved with one -course vitirfied vertical fiber side wire cut Buffalo Brick Paving Blocks, or brick equally as good, two and one-half (21) inches deep, with Texaco Asphalt Filler,,'or filler equally as good on a four (4) inch Portland Cement Concrete base, with one and one-half (lam) inch sand cushion. Such pave- ments shall be of the following widths: On Eighth Street within the limits above defined, said pawing shall be 34 feet in width from gutter to gutter; on Mulberry Street within the limits above defined, said paving shall be 41 feet in width from gutter to gutter. All excavating, rolling and filling necessary for the proper construction of such pavement shall be done and such pavement shall be laid and constructed on the established grade of said streets and the paving shall return to the lot line of said streets at the intersection of such streets with any other street and alley. Sec. 2. All excavating, filling and rolling necessary for the proper construction of such improvement shall be done and all of such improvement shall be made and done in strict conformity to and in compliance with the plans and specifications made heretofore by the City Engineer and are now on file with the City Clerk, which said plans and specifications are hereby incorporated in and made a part hereof, in all respects as fully and completely as though written out at length hereon; and such plans and specifications are hereby adopted as and for the plans and specifications of such work and improvements. Sec. 3. A contract is hereby awarded to M. R. Amerman of Salina, Kansas, for the paving, excavating and filling of said above mentioned streets within the limits aforesaid, with the material' specified in Section One (1) hereof, at a price per square yard of $2.02 for such pavement actually laid and put in place on said streets. All of said pavement is to be paid for according to the measurement thereof by the City Engineer of the City of Salina.,, 1 1 1 LI 1 1 n 1 and the Mayor and Council of said City hereby determined and find that the price herein.agreed and specified to be a paid for the improvement as aforesaid, are less than the estimated prices and cost of such as made and furnished by the City Engineer, which estimated cost of each and all of said improvemente is now on file with the City Clerk. Sec. 4. Such contract is awarded upon the express condition that such worg and improvement shall be done in strict accordance' with and in compliance with the plans and specifications of the City Engineer therefor, which are hereby made a part of this ordinance, and of the contract hereby awarded, and upon the further condition among of hers, that the said M. R. Amerman, shall give to the City of Salina, a surety bond in the approximate sum of the costs of such improvements, guaranteeing the proper and workmanlike construction of all of such improvements and guaranteeing such pavement against all defedts for a period of five (5) years from the date of its completion and acceptance by said City. Sec. 5. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its publication once in the official City paper. Passed and approved, December 21st, 1917. (SEAL) Attest: Chas. E.
