An ordinance levying and assessing special assessments on certain
lots and pieces of ground in the city of Salina, Kansas, to
pay the cost of excavating, curbing, guttering and paving
Otis Avenue from the east line of Santa Fe Avenue to the west
line of Ninth Street in said City, and relating to and pro-
viding for the collection of such assessments.
Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Salina:
Section 1. That for the purpose of paying the costs of ex-
cavating, curbing, guttering and paving Otis Avenue in the city
.of Salina, Kansas, from the east line of Santa Fe Avenue to the
west line of Ninth Street in said City, that there is hereby levied
and assessed against the property liable therefor, the same being
the property abutting on such street on either side thereof, accord-
ing to the appraised value thereof, for the purpose of such improve-
ments, without regard to the buildings or improvements thereon, such
special assessments being based on the valuation of such lots and
pieces of ground heretofore made by three disinterested appraisers
appointed by the Mayor and Council for the purpose of making such
appraisement, which appraisement is hereby referred to and made a
part of this ordinance. The several amounts levied and assessed
against the lots and pieces of ground for the purpose aforesaid are
hereby found and .determined to be as follows:

Sec. 2. Such amounts so levied and assessed shall be due and
payable from and after the publication of this ordinance. The
City Clerk of the City of Salina, shall certify to the County Clerk
of Saline County, Kansas, in the same manner and at the same time
as other taxes are certified for the year 1918s all of the above
special assessments which have not been paid wothin thirty days
after the publication of this ordinance, together with interest on
such amounts in the sum of four and one-half per cent per annum,
and such amounts so certified shall be placed on the'tax roll and
collected as other taxes are collected.
Sec. 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full
force from and after its publication once in the official City
paper.
