2124 Improve Washington Avenue1186 - - -- -- --- - - - - -- ----- - - - - - - - ORDINANCE NO _ 2124 _ (Published in the Salina Daily Union December 22nd, 1917. - An ordinance specifying and selecting the paving material to be used and letting the contract for the paving and excavating of certain streets in the city of Salina, Kansas. Be it ordained by the Mayor. and Councilmen of the City of Salina: Section 1. The Mayor and Council hereby determine that Washington Avenue in said City, between the west line of Ninth Street and the east line of Tenth Street shall be paved with one - course vitrified vertical fiber side wire cut Buffalo Brick Pav- ing Blocks, or brick equally as good, two and one-half (22) inch- es deep, with Texaco Asphalt Filler, or filler equally as good, on a four (4) inch Portland Cement Concrete base, with one and one-half (12) inch sand cushion. Such pavements shall be of the following widths: On Washington Street within the above defined limits, said paving shall be nineteen (19) feet in width from gutter to gut- ter. All excavating, rolling and filling necessary for the prop- er construction of such pavement shall be done and such' pavement shall be laid and constructed on the established grade on said streets and the paving shall return to the lot line. of said streets at the intersection of such streets with any other street or alley. Sec. 2 All excavating, filling and rolling necessary -for the proper construction of such improvement shall be done and all such improvement shall be made and done in strict conformity to and in compliance with the plans and specifications made here- tofore by the City Engineer and are now on file with the City Clerk,- which said plans and specifications are hereby incorpora&ed in and made a part hereof, in all respects as fully and complete- ly as though written out at length herein; and such plans and spe- cifications are hereby adopted as and for the plans and specifi- cations of such work and improvements. Sec. 3. A contract is hereby awarded to M. R. Amerman of Salina, Kansas, for the paving, excavating and filling of said above mentioned street within the limits aforesaid, with the ma- terial specified in Section one (1) hereof, at a price per square yard of $2.02 for such pavement actually laid and put in place on said streets. All of said pavement is to be paid for according to the measurement thereof by the City Engineer of the City of Salind, and the Mayor and Council of said City hereby determine and find that the price herein agreed to be paid for the improve- 1 i� 1 1 2bPCTi Lj fl 1 ment as aforesaid, are less than the estimated cost and prices of such as made and furnished by the City Engineer, which estimated cost of each and all of said improvements is now on file with the City Clerk. ' Sec. 4. Such contract is awarded upon the express condition that such work and improvement shall be done in strict accordance with and in compliance with the plans and specifications of the City Engineer therefor, which are hereby made a part of this ordinance, and of the contract hereby awarded, and upon the further condition among others, that the said M. -R. Amerman shall give to the City of Salina, a surety bond in the approximate sum of the costs of such improvements, guaranteeing the proper and workmanlike construction of all of such improvements and guaranteeing such pavement against all defects for a period of five ( 5 ) yearn from the date of its completion and acceptance by said City..
