An ordinance levying and assessing special assessments on certain
lots and pieoes of 'grourid in 'the city of Salina, Kansas, to
pay the costs of excavating, curbing, guttering, grading
and paving Twelfth Street from the north line of Ash Street
to -the south line of Bishop Street in said City and relat-
ing to and providing for the collection of such assessments.
Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of'the'City of Salina:

Section 1. That for the purpose of paying the costs of ex-
cavating, curbing, guttering, grading and paving Twelfth Street
from the north line of Ash Street to the south line of Bishop
Street in the city of Salina, Kansas, as described in Ordinance
No. 1955, that there is hereby levied and assessed against the pro-
perty liable therefor, the same being the property abutting on such
street, on either side thereof, according to the appraised value
thereof, for the purpose of such improvements, without regard to
the buildings or improvements thereon, such special assessments
being based on the valuation of such lots and pieces of ground here-
tofore made by three disinterested appraisers appointed by the May-
or and Council for the purpose of making such appraisement, which
appraisement is hereby referred to and made a part of this ordin-
ance. The several amounts levied and asses$ed against the lots and
pieces of ground aforesaid for the purpose aforesaid are hereby found
and determined to be as follows:

Sec. 2. Such amounts so levied and assessed shall be due
and payable from and after the publication, of this ordinance.
The City Clerk of the City of Salina, shall certify to the Coun-
ty Clerk of'Saline County, Kansas, in the'same manner and at
the same time as other taxes are certified for the year 1918,
all of the above special assessments which have not been paid
within thirty days after the publication of this ordinance, to-
gether with interest on
such amounts in the sum of
four
and one-
halp per cent (4j%) per
annum on such amounts, and
such
amounts
so certified shall be placed on the tax roll and collected as
other taxes are collected.
See. 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full
force from and after its publication once in the official.City
paper.
