2093 Street Improvements Eleventh Street----- - ---- --- - - - -- -ORD -INAN CE_NO . --2093-- - (Published in the Salina wily Union )tember ..vim 1917' An ordinance specifying and selecting the paving material -to be used and letting the contract for the paving -and excavat- ing of'certain streets in the city of Salina, Kansas. Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Salina: Section I. The Mayor and Council hereby determine that Eleventh Street from the south line of South Street to the north line of Morrison Avenue shall be paved with one course vitrified vertical fiber side wire cut Buffalo Brick Paving Blocks or brick equally as good, two and one-half (22) inches deep with Texaco Asphalt Filler or filler equally as good, on a four (4) inch Portland Cement Concrete base with one and one-half (12) inch sand cushion; and that Santa Fe Avenue from the south line of the Union Pacific Railroad right of way to the north line of the Union Pacific Railroad Right of way shall be paved with one course repressed Vitrified Buffalo Brick Paving Blocks or brick equally as good, four (4) inches deep with Texaco Asphalt Filler or filler equally as good on five (5) inch Portland Cement Concrete base with one and one-half (12) inch sand cushion; and North Street from the east line of Ninth Street to the west line of Fourth Street, except the intersection of Santa Fe Avenue and North Street, which is already paved, shall be paved with one - course Repressed Vitrified Brick Three (3) inches deep with Texa- co Asphalt Filler, or filler equally as good on a five (5) inch Portland Cement Concrete base with one and one-half (l) inch sand cushion. Such pavement shall be of the following widths: On North Street,within the limits hereinbefore defined said pavement shall be nineteen (19) feet in width from gutter to gutter. On Eleventh Street, within the limits hereinbefore defined such pavement shall be twenty-four (24) feet in width from gut- ter to gutter. On Santa Fe Avenue, within the limits hereinbefore defined said pavement shall be sixty (60) feet in width from edge to edge. On all of the above named streets said paving shall return to the lot line on such streets at the intersection of such street with any other street or alley. Sec. 2. All excavating, filling and rolling necessary for the proper construction of such improvement shall be done and all of such improvements shall be made and done in strict confor- mity to and in compliance with the plans and specifications made 1 1 1 1 1 2bPGII 1 1 1 1 411 heretofore by the City Engineer and are now on file with the City Clerk, which said plans and specifications are hereby incor- porated in and made a part hereof, in all respects as fully and completely as though written out at length herein; and such plans and specifications are hereby adopted as and for the plans and specifications of such work and improvements.. Sec, 3. A contract is hereby awarded to M. R. Amerman of Salina, Kansas, for the paving, excavating and filling of the above mentioned streets within the limits aforesaid, with the materials specified in Section One (1) hereof at a price for the paving actu- ally laid and put in place on Eleventh Street of Two and 8100 Dol- lars, ($2.08) per square yard; and for the paving actually laid and put in place on Santa Fe Avenue at a price of Two and 53100 Dollars, ($2.53) per square yard; and for the pavement actually laid" and put in place on North Street at a price of Two and 30100 Dollars, ($2.30) per square yard. All of said pavement is to be - paid for according to the measurement thereof by the City Engineer of the City of Salina. The Mayor and Council of said City hereby determine and find that the price agreed to be paid for the imprcre- ment as ' aforesaid is less than the estimated prices and cost of each and all of said improvements as now on file with the City Clerk. Sec. 4. Such contract is awarded upon the express condition that such work and improvement shall be done in strict accordance with and in compliance with the plans and specifications of the City Engineer therefor, which are hereby made a part of this ord- inance, and of the contract hereby awarded, and upon further con- ditions among others, that the said M. R. Amermanshall give to the City of Salina, a surety bond in the approximate sum of the cost of such improvements, guaranteeing the proper and workmanlike con- struction on- struction of all of such improvements and gua ranett ing such pave- ment against all defects for a period of five years from the date of its completion and acceptance by the said City. Sec. 5. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its publication once in the official City paper. (SEAL) Attest: Passed and approved, September 17th, 1917. Chas. E.
