An ordinance rblating to the licensing of certain occupations,
callings and business in the City of Salina.
Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Salina:
Section 1. That from and after January 1st, 1918 no person,
firm or corporation shall within the city of Salina, Kansas, oper-
ate, maintain or conduct for hire a telegraph office or place where
messages or communications are received for transmission or delivery
over wires by means of electric current without having first obtain-
ed a license from the city of Salina, so to do, and paying therefor
the sum of One Hundred Dollars, ($100.00) per year.
Sec. 2. That from and after January 1st, 1918, no person,
firm or corporation shall within the city of Salina, Kansas, operate,
. maintain or conduct for hire a telephone business or exchange or
rent, lease, furnish or provide telephone instrument for the trans-
mission of messages or communications over wires by means of electric
current without having first obtained from the City of Salina, a
license so to do, and paying therefor the sum of Five Hundred Dollars
($500.00)per year.
Sec. 3. Licenses shall be issued under this ordinance by the
City Clerk with the seal of the City of Salina, attached, and signed
by the Mayor and countersigned by the City Treasurer. All such licen-
ses shall expire on the 31st day of December next after the same are
issued.
Sec. 4. Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the
provisions of this ordinance shall upon conviction be fined in any
s -gm not exceeding One Hundred ($100.00) Dollars for each offense;
and each day during which such violation shall continue shall be
deemed and considered a separate offense.
Sec. 5. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.
Sec. 6. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force
from and after its publication once in the official City paper.
