2071 Junk Dealers LicenseORDINANCE N4. 2071.____ (Published in the Salina Daily Union July 1917) An ordinance relating to Junk Dealers and licenses therefor. Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Salina: Section 1. It shall be unlawful for any person, 'firm or corpo tion to carry on the business of a junk dealer or shipper or storer junk or of a junk collector or peddler within the City of Salin&X Kansas, without first having obtained therefor a license so to do al hereinafter provided. 9,ec. - 2Junk is hereby defined to be old iron, lead, . brass, steel, copper r other metals or old machinery or parts thereof, - paper, rags or baggingA rope, rubber, bones, bottles and similar old mater- ial. Sec. 3. Any `terson, firm or corporation desiring such licen- ses shall make applic4t ion therefor in writing to the City Clerk. Such application shall�\set forth the full name of applicant together with his residence and cation at which such junk is to be kept or stored, and the applicant shall not keep or store junk at any other location in said C ity. . Su applicat ion shall be submitted to the City Council and if the Cou it shall approve such application and location it may order the issi*nce of license. Sec. 4. The place where k4ch junk is kept or stored together with the junk therein shall at al condition and open to the inspect times be kept in a sanitary of any member of the committee of Publia Health and Sanitation and 'tie dealer shall not have or permit any junk to be exposed to the AUblic, view in any yard within said City. See. 5. The fee for such license payable in advance and all licenses issued expire on the last day of June or December issued. 11 be $100.00 per annum r this ordinance shall t after the same are Sec. 6. The licenses shall be issued by the City Clerby the Mayor and countersigned by the City Treasurer and tlerk shall upon the issuance of each license hereunder dthe licensee a license tag and number for each wagon orwhich license shall at all times be kept plainly attachedon LJ 1 1 1 1 AbPCH 11 1 1 1 360 or vehicle and which license tag and number he shall surrender to the City Clerk when such license expires or is revoked or suspended. Sec. 7. Any license issued hereunder may be suspended or re - voked by the City Council upon the conviction in the Police Court of the said City, of the licensee of any violation of the terms of this ordinance. See. 80 No licensee shall sell or remove from the location in which any such junk is stored or kept any, article of junk purchased by him until same shall have been in his possession for at least forty-eight (48) hours. Sec. 9. Any person; firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be fined in any sum not less than -five dollars nor more than one hundred ,dollars for each offense. Sec. 10. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby' repealed. See. 11.. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its publication once in the official City paper. Passed and approved, July 16th, 1917.
