An ordinance levying and assessing special assessments on certain
lots or pieces of ground in the City of Salina, Kansas, to
pay the cost of paving the alley between Fourth and Fifth
9'treets from a point Two Hundred Feet north of Iron Avenue
in said City to the north line of said Iron Avenue, and
relating to and providing for collection of such assessments.
Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Salina:
Section 1. That for the purpose of paying the costs of
excavating and paving the alley between Fourth and Fifth Streets
in said City of Salina, Kansas, from a po int Two Hundred (200)
feet north of the north line of Iron Avenue, south to the north
line of Iron Avenue as described in Ordunance Number 2005, -that
there is hereby levied and assessed against the property liable,
therefor the same being the property abutting on such alley and
facing on Fourth and Fifth Street in said City according to the
appraised value thereof for the purpose of _ such improvement without
regard to the buildings or improvements thereon, special assess-
ments being based on the valuation of such lots and pieces of
ground heretofore made by three disinterested appraisers appoint-
ed by the Mayor and Council for the purpose of making such appraise -
merit which appraisement is hereby referred to and made a part of
this ordinance. The several amounts levied and assessed against
the lots and pieces of ground aforesaid, for the purpose aforesaid
are hereby found and determined to be as follows:

Sec. 2.. Such amounts so levied and assessed shall be due
and payable from the after the publication of this ordinance; and
it shall be the duty of the City Clerk to certify to the County
Clerk of Saline County, Kansas, in the same manner and at the same
time as other taxes are certified fob' the year 1917, all of the
all of the above special assessments which have not been a paid
within thirty days after the publication of this ordinance, together
with interest on such amounts in the sum of five per cent per an-
num of such amounts, and such amounts so certified shall be placed
on the tax roll and collected as other taxes are collected.

See. 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full
force from and after its publication once in the official City
paper.
