2059 Street Standards338 ORDINANCE NO. 2059. (Published in the Salina Daily -Union June 1917 ) An ordinance specifying and selecting the paving materiaito be used-, and letting the contract for the paving and excavating of certain streets in the city of Salina, Kansas. Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Salina: Section 1. The Mayor and Council hereby determine that Santa Fe, Avenue from the north line of the right of way of The Union Pacific Railroad Company to the south line of Otis Avenue; Ninth Street from the south line of the main line right of way of The Union Pacific Railroad Company to the north line of Otis Avenue; and Otis Avenue form the east line of Santa Fe Avenue to the east line of Ninth Street, shall each and all be paved with one course Vitrified Vertical Fiber side wire cut Buffalo Brick Paving Blocks, or brick equally as good, two and one-half (212) inches deep, with Texaco Asphalt Filler, on a four (4) inch Portland Cement Concrete Base, with one and one-half -(12) inch sand cushion, except on railroad street crossings, which shall be paved with one course repressed vitfifi°ed brick paving, blocks four (4) inches thick, with Texaco Asphalt filler, and with Portland Cement Concrete base five (5) inches thick, and one and one-half (12) inch sand cushion. Such pavements shall be of the following widths: On Santa Fe Avenue, within the limits above defined, said pavement shall be seventeen and one-half (172)• feet wide on each side of the street, from the edge of gutter toward the center, and with an unpaved space of nineteen (19) feet in width left in the center, except as to street and alley intersections, which shall be paved from lot line to lot line. On Ninth Street, within the limits hereinbefore defined, said pavement shall be fifteen (15) feet in width on each side of the street from the edge of the gutter toward the center, and with an unpaved space of ten (10) feet in width left in the center, ex- cept as to street and alley intersections., which shall be paved from lot line to lot line. On Ot, is Avenue;__ within the limits above defined, sais pave- ment shall be forty-one (41) feet in width from gutter to gutter. On all of the above named streets, said paving shall return to the lot line on such streets at the intersection of such street with other streets and alleys. D 1 D 1 2bPUH 1 0 1 1 6 e� 0n Ninth Street and Santa Fe Avenue, at such places in said streets as unpaved spaces shall be left in the center thereof, in accordance with the plans and specifications, there shall be one -course Portland Cement Concrete pavement eight inches in thickness, with Texaco Asphalt expansion joints, to be used in place of the concrete header as specified in the plans and speci- fications of the City Engineer heretofore filed with the City Clerk for such work and improvements. Sec. 2. All excavating, filling and rolling necessary for the proper construction of such improvement shall be done and all of such improvements shall be made and done in strict conformi- ty to and in compliance with the plans and specifications made heretofore by the City Engineer and are now on file with the City Clerk, which said plans and specifications are hereby incorporated in and made a part hereof, in all respects as fully and complete- ly -as though written out at length herein; and such plans and specifications are hereby adopted as and for the plans and speci- fications of such work and improvements.. Sec. 3. A contract is hereby awarded to IA- R- Amerman of Salina, Kansas, for the paving, excavating and filling of said above mentioned streets wuthin the limits aforesaid, with the material specified in'S.ection one (1) hereof, at a price per square yard of $2.02 for such pavement actually laid and put in place on said streets. And for railroad street crossings, said M. R. Amerman, is to receive a price of $2.53 per square yard for such paving laid therefor and put in place, and for the eight (8) inch one course concrete paving laid in place of the concrete header specified, the said M. R. Amerman is to receive $2.07 per square yard for such pavement actually laid and put in place. All of said pavement is to be paid for according to the neasuremert thereof by the City Engineer of the City of Salina, Kansas, and the Mayor and Council of said City hereby determine and find that the prices herein agreed and specified to be paid for the improve- ment as aforesaid, are less than the estimated prices and cost of each as made and furnished by the City Engineer, which estimated cost of each and all of said improvements is now on file with the City Clerk. Sec. 4. Such cont ra ct is awarded upon the express condl- t ion that such work -and improvement shall be done in strict ac- cordance with and in compliance with the plans and specific ations I of the City Engineer therefor, which are hereby made a part, of this ordinance, and of the contract hereby awarded, and upon the further condition among others, that the said M. R- Amerman, shall give to the City of Salim, a surety bond in the approximate sum of the cost of such improvements, guaranteeing the proper and I workmanlike construction of all of such improvements and guarantee- ing such pavement against all defects for a period of five (5) years from the date of its completion and acceptance by said City. Sec. 5. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its publication once in the official City paper. Passed and approved, June 25th, 1917. (SEW Edd Mathew. Mayor.
