2058 Street Standards- --ORDINANCE NO. 2 058 .

An ordinance specifying and selecting the material to be used,
and letting the contract for the curbing and guttering of
certain streets in the city of Salina, Kansas.
Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Salina:
Section 1. The Mayor and Council hereby determine that
sante k'e Avenue from the north line of the right of way of the
Union Pacific Railroad Company to the south line of Otis Avenue;
Ninth Street from the south line of the main line right of way of
the Union Pacific Railroad Company to the north line of Otis Aven-
ue; and Otis Avenue from the east line 'of Santa Fe Avenue to the
east line of Ninth Street, shall each and all be curbed and gut-
tered with one piece cement curb and gutter. The curb to be six
(6) inches in thickness at the top and seven (7) inches at the
base and sixteen (16) inches in depth. The gutter to be six (6)
inches in thickness next to the curb and eight (8) inches next
to the street . The width of the gutter to be forty-two (42) inches
measured from the back of the curb to the edge of the gutter a next
to the street.
See. 2.* That a contract be and is hereby let and awarded
to. L. H. Lyon, for the curbing and guttering og all of the herein
before mentioned streets, within the limits hereinbefore defined,
and with the materials specified in Section One. (1) hereof, at a
price of ninety-six cents (96�) per lineal foot for the curbing
and gzttering actually laid on said streets; all of such work to
be done in strict coi$pliance with and in accordance with the plans `
and specifications of the Cit.y Engineer of the city of Salina,
Kansas, for the construction. of such curb and gutter.
Sec. 3. Such contract is awarded upon the express condi-
tion
that the work and improvements
to be done
thereunder shall be
done
in strict accordance to and in
compliance
with the plans and
specifications of the City Engineer for the construction of such
work and improvements and in accordance with Ordinance No. 2035
and that all of such work shall be done in. a proper and workmanlike
manner;
and
upon the
further condition
that
the said L.
H.
Lyon to
whom a
said
contract
is awarded, shall
give
to the city
of
Salina,
Kansas, a surety bond in a _sum approximating the costs of such
improvements, guaranteeing said paving and guttering against all
defects for a period of two years from the time of the completion
and acceptance of such curbing and guttering by the Mayor and Coun-
cil of the City of Salina. Said bond to be approved as to its suf-
ficiency by the Mayor fo said City, and as to its form by the City
Attorney. v

Sec. 4. The curbing and guttering of Santa Fe Avenue within
the limits hereinbefore defined shall be so constructed that the
lot line edges thereof shall be thirty and one-half (302) feet from
and parallel with the center of such street.
On ninth Street. within the limits hereinbefore defined, the

curbing and guttering shall be so constructed that the lot line
edges thereof shall be twenty-four .(24) feet from and parallel with
the center of such street.
8n Otis A ,, within the limits here inbef ore deined, the
curbing and guttering shall be so constructed, that the lot line
edges thereof shall be twenty-four {24) feet from and parallel with
the center of such street.
Sec. 5. All excavating and filling necessary for the proper
construction of such curbing and guttering shall be done by the said
L. B • Lyon, and all of such improvements shall be done in strict
conformity to and in compliance with the plans and specifications
of the City Engineer of the City of Salina, Kansas, for the con-
struction of such work and improvements, which said plans and speci-
fications are hereby made a part of this ordinance and incorporated
herein as fully and completely as tbLough written out at length
here in.
Sec. 6. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full
force from and after its publication once in the official City
pa pe r.
