2046 Street Commissioner CompensationLI ORDINANCE • 2046. -- _ ( Published in the Salina Daily Union June, Gj 1917 ) An ordinance amending Ordinance No. 1717 entitled, "An ordinance prescribing the duties and compensation of the Street Commissioner -of the City of ' Sal ina, presc iribing compensa- tion to be paid employees working on the streets of said City and repealing Ordinance No. 637 passed and approved March 7th2 1888 and Ordinance No 1.523,, passed and approved October 18, 1909." Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Salina: Section 1. That Section Two (2) of said Ordinance No. 1717 be and the same is hereby amended so as to read as follows: "Sec.. 2. The street commissioner, by and with the advise. and consent of the Mayor and the committee on streets is hereby authorized to emply, from time -to time, such number of laborers and such number of teams and wagons with drivers as may be neces- sary to carry on the work of his department; Provided, However, That the number of laborers and teams to be employed and the expense thereof shall at all times be subject to the direction of the Mayor and Council; and provided further, that from and after May 15th, 1917, no team and wagon with driver shall be employed by said street commissioner to work on the streets of said City at a wage in excess of $4.00 per day for eight hours' work, and no laborer shall be employed at such work at a comepensation exceeding $2.00 per day foe eight hours' work, except laborers cleaning streets with broom, shovel and cart, who shall not be employed at a wage in excess of $1.75 per day for eight hours' work; and provided -further, that the street commissioner shall not use or employ on such street work, more than two teams and wagons, or two teams or two wagons owned by him or in which he is in anywise financially interested; the comepnsation therefor, when so used and employed to be fixed by the Mayor and Counc it ." Sec . 2. That Section Two (2) of said Ordinance No. 1717 be and the same is hereby repealed. Sec. 3.
