P,a _ordinance providing for the construction of certain side-
walk in the city of Salina, Kansas.
Be ,it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Salina:
Section 1. That the owner or owners of any and all real
estate abutting on the east side of College Avenue from Ash Street
to Iron Avenue; and on 'the' west side of College Avenue from Elm
Street to The Salina Northern Railroad Company; also on the west
side of Second Street from Iron Avenue, north 300 feet, in the
city of Salina; Kansas, are hereby required to construct or cause
to be constructed on or before the 15th day of March, 1917, a
cement sidewalk in front of and adjacent to all the lots or parts
of lots above described, said sidewalk to be constructed of the
material, width and in the' manner specified and required by the
provisions of Ordinances Nos. 1038, 1971 and 1974 of the printed
ordinances of the City of Salina, which said Ordinance Nos. 1038,
1971 and 1974. are hereby incorporated in and made a part of this
ordinance.
Sec. 2.- That the committee on sidewalks of the City Council
shall, as soon as practicable after the said 15th day of March,
1917, cause such sidewalk as described in Section One hereof to be
constructed as herein provided where such owner or owners fail,
neglect or refuse to build the same, as provided herein, and shall
report their proceedings, together with the length and dimensions
of the walk so constructed by said committee and the actual ex-
pense thereof to the City Council.
Sec. 3. The expense of constructing said walk by said com-
mittee shall be assessed against the real estate abutting thereon
according to the front foot thereof, and collected as other taxes
against such real estate.
Sec. 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force
from and after its publication once in the Salina Daily Union.
