ORDINANCE NO. 1989.
An ordinance providing for the construction of certain sidewalk
in the city of Salina, Kansas.
Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Salina:
Section 1. That the owner or owners of any and all real
estate abutting on the east side of Phillips Street from South
Street to Morrison Avenue; on the west side, of College Avenue from
South Street to Spruce Street; on the south side of South Street
from College Avenue to - Montrose Avenue; on the north side of Park
Street from the present terminus to the west side of Chicago Aven-
ue, thence along the west side of Chicago Avenue to the south side
of Ash Street, thence along the south side of Ash Street to the
present terminus; and on the east side of Eleventh Street from
Prescott Avenue to Charles Street, in the city of Salina, Kansas,
are hereby required to construct or cause to be constructed on or
before the 1st day of October, 1916, a sidewalk in front of and
adjacent to all the lots or parts of lots above described, said
sidewalk to be constructed of the material, width and in the man-
ner specified and required by the provisions of Ordinance Nos.
1971, 1038 and 1974 of the printed ordinances of the City of Sa-
lina, which said Ordinance Nos. 1038, 1971 and 1974 are hereby in-
corporated in and made a part of this ordinance.
Sec. 2. That the committee on sidewalks of the City Council
shall, as soon as practicable after the said 1st day of October,
1916, cause such sidewalks as described in Section One (1) hereof
to be constructed as herein provided where such owner of owners
fail, neglect or refuse to build the same, as provided herein, and
shall report their pfodeedings, together with the length and dimen-
sions of the walk so constructed by said committee and the actual
expense thereof to the City Council.
Sec. 3. The expense of constructing said walk by said commit-
tee shall be assessed against the real estate abutting thereon ac-
cording to the front foot thereof, and collected as other taxes _
against such real estate.
Sec. 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force
from and after its publication onee in The Salina Daily Union.
