1971 Sidewalk ImprovementsORDINANCE NO. 1971 (Published in the Salina Daily Union August ��� 1916) An ordinance regulating the construction of sidewalks in the city of Salina, Kansas, ' defining a certain misdemeanor and fixing a penalty for the violation thereof. Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Salina: Section 1. That all sidewalks hereafter constructed in the City of Salina,, shall be cement walks and shall be constructed accord- ing to the following specifications and with the following ingredients in the following ratio, t o -wit : Such cement walk shall have abase three and one-half inches thick composed of one part Portland Cement or other cement equally as good; Two parts good clean Sand; and four parts of Screened Chats,. or Joplin Grit or an equivalent mixture of Sand and Gravel; On this base there shall be laid a wearing surface one-half inch in thickness composed of one part Portland Cement or its equal and two parts of good clean sand. See. 2. It shall be a misdemeanor for any contractor or person to build or construct any sidewalk in the city of Salina after the publication of this ordinance except in strict accordance with Section One (1) hereof. Sec 3. Any person violating the provis ions of this ordinance shall upon conviction thereof be fined in any sum not less than ten nor more than one hundred dollars. See. 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its publication once in The Salina Daily Union. Passed and approved, July 31st, 1916.
