1964 Improve Twelfth Street2bPGH 1 1 1 1 ORD INA NC E N0. 1964 {Published in the Salina Daily Union June 19161 An ordinance specifying and selecting the paving metsrial to be used and'le-tting the contract -'for the paving, excavating and filling of certain portions of Twelfth (12th) Street and Phillips Street in the city of Salina, Kansas. Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Salina: Section 1. The Mayor and Council hereby determine that Twelfth Street (12th) in the City of Salina, from the north line of Bishop Street to "the south line of North Street and Phillips Street in said City, from the south line of the right- of-way of the Union Pacific Railroad Company to the south line of the right-of-way of The Missouri Pacific Railway Company, shall be paved with one -course of repress vitrified brick paving block not less than four (4) inches in depth as specified in the specifications of the City Engineer of said City filed by him with the City Clerk on the 19th day of June, 1916. Such paving material to be laid on a five (5) inch concrete base as specified and such material is hereby adopted and selected as the material with which such streets shall be paved. Such paving on said Phillips Street shall be fifty (50) feet wide and shall be laid on such street on the east side thereof or as directed by the City Engineer of said City and such paving on said Twelfth. (12th) Street shall be eighty (80) feet wide from the north line of Bishop Street, north to the south Union Pacific property line, and from such line to the south line of North Street such pavement shall be forty (40) feet wide and shall be laid in the center of said Twelfth (12th) Street.. Provided, that at the intersection of streets and alleys such paving shall extend from lot line to lot line on such street. Sec. 2. All excavating, filling and rolling necessary for the proper construction of such improvement shall be done and all of said improvements shall be made and done in conformity to and compliance with the plans and specifications made there- for by the City Engineer and are now on file with the City Clerk, and such plans and. specif icat ions are hereby incorporated in and made a part of this ordinance in all respects as if the same were written out in full herein, and they are hereby adopted as and for the plans and specifications for such work and improvement. See. 3. A contra t ioT�ereby awarded to A. R. young & Com- Pany of Lawrence, Kansas, ng, excavating and filling of said above mentioned Twelfth and Phillips Street 0 within the limits aforesaid with the tZa specified in Section One {1) thereof, on a five inch concrete base at and for the uniform price of Two Dollars and Fifteen Cents ($2.15) per square yard of such pavement excavated, laid and put in place on said s stree such pavement to have an asphalt filling. Such pavement' ,b for according to the measurement thereof 'a by the City Engfn%1g, OA& City and.the Mayor and Council hereby determine and fi at the price hereby agreed to be paid for the improvements aforesaid, are less than the estimated pri- ces and costs of each and all of said improvements as made and furnished by the said City Engineer, which estimated cost of each and all of such improvements is now on file with the City Clerk. Sec. 4. Such contract is awarded upon the expresscondit ion that such work and improvements shall be done in strict accordance ,with the specifications of the City Engineer, therefore, which are hereby made a part of this ordinance, and of the contract hereby awarded and upon the further condition among others that the said A. R. Young & Company shall give to the City of Salina a surety bond in the approximate sum of the cost of such im- provements guaranteeing the proper and workmanlike construction of all such improvements and guaranteeing such pavement against such defects for a period of five (5) years from the date of its completion and its acceptance by said City. Sec. 5. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its publication once in the Salina Daily Union. Passed and approved, June 26th, 1916. (SEAL) J. E. Putnam, Mayor. Attest: Chas.
