1961 Contract Bishop Improvements0 R D I N A N C E N ©. 1961 — — - -- ------ ----- -- -- - - - --- (Published in the Salina.Daily inion June 1916) An ordinance specifying and selecting the paving material to be used and letting the contract for the paving and excavating of certain streets in the city of Salina, Kansas, hereinafter named. Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Salina Section 1. That Bishop Street, in the city of Salina, Kansas, from the west line of Ninth Street to the east line of Thirteenth Street ; Tenth Street, in the city of Salina, Kansas, from the south line of Morrison Avenue to the north line of Prescott Avenue; Tenth Street, in the city of Salina, from the south line of Ash Street to the north line of Park Street; Twelfth Street, . in the City of Salina, Kansas, from the south line of Walnut Street to the north line of South -Street; Walnut Street in the city of Salina, Kansas, from the west line of College Avenue to the east line of the right-of-way of the Missouri Pacific Railway Company; Phijlips Street, in the city of Salina, Kansas, from the .north line of Wal- nut Street to the south line of Ash Street; Twelfth Street, in the J City of Salina, Kansas, from the north line of Ash Street to the south line of Bishop Street; shall each and all be paved, within the limits defined herein, with one -course of vitrified vertical fi- ber side wire cut Buffalo Brick Block, or other brick equally as good, as specified in the specifications of the city engineer for the. making of such improvements and now on file with the city clerk, such paving material to be laid on a five inch concrete base, as specified in such specifications, and such paving material laid on such base is hereby adopted as and for the material to be used in the paving of such streets. Such,paving on such streets shall extend from gutter to gutter and all excavating necessary for the proper construction of such paving shall be done. Provided that at the intersection of streets and alleys such paving shall extend to the lot line of such streets. Sec. 2. All of such improvements shall be made and done in strict conformity to the plans and specifications of the city engineer for the making of such improvements and all rolling and filling necessary for the proper construction of such improvements shall be made and done. The plans and specifications of the city. engineer for the making of the improvements herein provided for are hereby specifically referred to and made a part hereof as fully as if set out at length herein. Sec. 3. A contract is hereby awarded and let to A. R. Young and Company for the paving and excavating of said above mentioned Otjreet--s ;wzthzn 't=he 1:mits above -;c = rrd3,, with the material speci- 1 11 1 1 1 2bPGH fied in section one hereof, on a five inch conbrete base, at and for the uniform price of One and 92100 Dollars, ($1,92) for the square yards of pavement actually.laid and put in place on such streets, and for the excavating necessary to properly construct said pavement said contractors shall be paid forty cents (40¢) per cubic yard for the cubic yards of dirt actually removed from such streets; all such pavement and excavation as measured by the city engineer of said city of Salina; and the mayor and council hereby determine that the prices agreed to be paid .for the improvements herein provided for are less than the estimated cost and price of making such improvements as shown by the estimate of the city engin- eer ngin- eer for the making of such improvements which estimate is now on file with the city clerk. Sec. 4. Such contracts are awarded upon the express condition that such work and improvements shall be made -and done in strict ac- cordance with the ordinances of the city providing for such work and improvements and with the plans and specifications of the city en- gineer for the making of such improvements, which are hereby made a part of this contract hereby awarded; and upon the further condition among others that said A. R. Young and Company shall furnish to the City of Salina a good and sufficient bond in the estimate sum of the cost of such improvements guaranteeing the proper making and. con- . strutting of all such improvements and guaranteeing such paving against all defects for a period of five years, such bond to be ap- proved as to sufficiency by the Mayor and as to form by the 'City At -- t orney .
