ORDINANCE NO. 1954

An ordinance providing for the condemnation of certain real property
hereinafter described for the purpose of opening and estab-
lishing Putnam Avenue in the city of Salina, Kansas.
WHEREAS, thirteen property owners have filed their pet it ion
asking that the alley between Ninth Street and Tenth Streetand ex-
tending from Morrison Avenue to South Street be widened from the
present width of Eighteen feet to forty-six feet and be opened
and established as a street., and,
WHEREAS, such property owners own practically all of the
property necessary to be taken to so widen such alley and they have
agreed that they will donate such property belonging to them for
such purpose, therefore; ,
Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Salina:
Section 1. That the alley lying between Ninth Street and
Tenth Street and running from Morrison Avenue to South Street be
widened from its present width of eighteen feet to the width of
forty-six feet and such alley, as thus widened, be opened and estab-
lished as Putnam Avenue in the ' c it y of Salina, Kansas.
Sec. 2. That for the purpose of so widening such alley and
so opening and establishing such Putnam Avenue the following de-
scribed real property be appropriated and dedicated therefore;
allthat tract of ground described by meets and bounds as follows:
to -wit: commencing at the northeast corner of Lot nine, Block One,
Morrison Addition to the city of Salina, thence west fourteen feet,
thence south parallel with the west line of the alley between Ninth
Street and Tenth Street to the south line of Lot Sixteen in said
Block and Addition, thence east fourteen feet to the southeast corner
of said Lot Sixteen, thence north along the west line of said alley.
to the place of beginning; and
All that tract of ground described by meets and bounds as
follows, to -wit: commencing at the northwest corner of Lot One,
Block One, Morrison Addition to the city of Salina, thence east
fourteen feet, thence south parallel with the east line of the
alley between Ninth Street and Tenth Street to the south line of
Lot Eight, in said Block and Addition,, thence west fourteen feet
to the east line of said alley thence north along the east line of
said alley to the place of beginning.
Sec. 3. The Council shall by ordinance appoint three dis-
interested householders of the City who shall qualify and proceed
to give notices and assess the damage caused by the condemnation and
appropriation of the above described real property for the purpose
aforesaid, and said appraisers or householders shall report their

proceedings to the Mayor and Council in all things as provided by
law, and upon completion of their report shall file the same with
the City Clerk.
Sec. 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force
f rom ,and aft er it s publ icat ion once in the Salina Daily Union.
