1952 Public DanceMM ORDINANCE N0. 1,952 -- -- --- - - - --- -_ - (Published in the Salina Daily -Union 1916) An ordinance levying a license tax on all persons conducting or assisting to conduct a public dance in the City of Salina. Be it ordained by the Mayor and "Councilmen of the City of Salina: Section 1. From and after the passage and publication of this ordinance it shall be unlawful for any person to conduct or aid or assist, in conducting any public dance in the City of Salina, Kansas, without first having obtained from such .City a license to so conduct, or aid or assist in conducting such public dance, and having paid to the City Clerk for such license the sum of One Hundred Dollars. ' Sec. 2. The license mentioned in Section One hereof shall run to the first day of July following the date of its issue and no license shall be issued for term of less than one year. Sec. 3. All licenses shall be non -assignable and non -trans - f erable . Sec. 4. The term "Public Dance" as used in this ordinance shall mean any dance to which the general public is invited, or an admission fee is charged to the hall or floor, and shall not include any dance for which separate invitations are issued or no such fee is charged. Sec. 5. Any person violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall upon conviction thereof be fined in any sum not less than 925.00 nor more than $100.00. Sec. 6.
