An ordinance providing for the construction of certain sidewalk
in the City of Salina, Kansas.
Be it ordd ined by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Salina:
Section 1. That the owner or owners of a;iy: and all real est-
ate abutting on the west side of Fifth Street from Crawford Avenue
to fond Street; on the east side of Fifth Street from Crawford Av-
enue, south to connect with the present walk; :on the east side of
College Avenue, from Spruce Street to South Street; and on the east
side of Twelfth Street from South Street to Morrison Avenue, in
the city of Salina, Kansas, are hereby required to construct or
cause to be constructed on or before the. 15th day of May, 1916,
a sidewalk in front of and adjacent to all the lots or parts of
lots above described, said sidewalk to be constructed of the mater-
ial, width and in the manner specified and required by the provis-
ions , of Ordinance N o . 1038 of the printed ordinance of the City of
Salina, which said ordinance No. 1038 is hereby incorporated in and
made apart of this 'ordinance.
Sec. 2. That the Committee on Sidewalks of the City Council
shall, as soon as pract i -cable after the said 15th day of May, 1.916,
cause such sidewalk as described in Section One hereof to be con-
structed as herein provided where such owner or owners fail, neglect
or refuse to build the same, as provided herein, and shall report
their proceedings, together with the length and dimensions of the
walk so constructed by said Committee and the actual expense
thereof to the City Council.
Sec. 3. The expense of constructing said walk by said Com-
mittee shall be assessed against the real estate abutting thereon
according to the front foot thereof, and collected as other taxes
against such real estate.
See. 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force
from and after its publication once in the Salina Evening Journal.
