An ordinance providing for the construction of certain sidewalk in. the city of Salina, Kansas;. Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of bal ina : Section 1. That the owner or owners of any and all real est - ate abutting on the north side 'of Harsh Street from Fifth Street to Third Streets, and on the east side of Fifth Street from Harsh Street south to the walk as now constructed 3n the city of Salina, Kansas, are hereby required to construct -or cause to be constructed on or before the 1$t day of May, 1916 a sidewalk in front of and adjacent to all the lots or parts of. lots above described, said sidewalk to be constructed of the material, width and in .the manner specified and required by the provisions of Ordinance No. 1038 of the printed ordinances of the city of Salina, which said Ordinance No. 1038 is hereby incorporated in and made apart of this ordinance. See. 2. That the 'committee on sidewalks of the City Coune it shall, as soon as practicable after the said lst day of May, 1916, cause such sidewalk as described in Section One hereof to be construct- ed as herein -provided where such owner or owners fail,,.neglect or re- fuse to build the same, as provided herein, and shall report their proceedings, together with the length and dimensions of the walk so constructed by said committee and the actual expense thereof to the City Council. Sec. 3. The expense of constructing said walk by said commit- tee shall be assessed against the real estate abutting thereon ac- cording to the front foot thereof, and collected as other taxes against such real estate. Sec. 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its publ icat ion once in The Sabina Evening Journal. Passed and approved March 20th, 1916. J. E. Putnam. (SEAL) Mayor.
