An ordinance providing for the construction and raising of certain
sidewalk in the city of Salina, Kansas.
Be it ordained by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Salina:
Sect ion 1. That the owner or owners of Lot 48 on Fourth Street,
Lots 30, 32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, 469 48, 164, 166 and 168 on
Santa Fe Avenue, Original Townsite, and on the west side of Phillips
Street, from Prescott Avenue to Charles Street, in the city of Salina,
Kansas, are hereby required to construct or cause to be constructed
on or before the lst 'day of May, 1916, a sidewalk in front of and
adjacent to all the lots or parts of lots ' above described, said side-
walk to be constructed of the material, width and in the manner spe-
cified and required by the provisions of Ordinance No. 1038 of the
printed ordinances of the City of Salina, which said Ordinance No.
1038 is hereby incorporated in and made a part of this ordinance.
Sec. 2. That the owner or owners of Lot 7, Block 9, in Oakdale
Addition; Lot 47 on Fifth Sheet; Lots 64 and 66 on Eighth Street,
Original T owns it e ; Lots 1, 21, 3, 4, 5, and 6 on Park Street, Weaver's
Addition; Lots 31 and 32, University Place, University Addition; and
Lot 7 and part of Lot 8, Block 21, Morrison's Addition, in the ,Cit y
of Salina, Kansas, are hereby required to raise or cause to be raised
on or before the 1st, day of May, 1916, the sidewalk in front of and
adjacent to all the lots or parts of lots above described, said
sidewalk to be constructed of the material, width and in the manner
specified and required by the provisions of Ordinance No. 1038, of
the printed ordinances of the City of Salina, which said Ordinance
No. 1038 is hereby incorporated in and made a part of this ordinance.
Sec. 3. That the committee on sidewalks of the City Council
shall, as soon as practicable after the said 1st day of May, 1916,
cause such sidewalk as described in Sections One and Two hereof to
be constructed and raised as herein provided, where.such owner or
owners fail, meglect or refuse to build or raise the same, as provid-
ed herein, and shall report their proceedings, together with the length
and dimensions of the walk so constructed or raised by said committee
and the actual expense thereof to the City Council.
Sec. 4. The expense of constructing and raising said walk by
said Committee shall be assessed against the real estate abutting
thereon according to the front foot thereof, and collected as other
taxes against such real estate.

Sec. 5.' This ordinance shall take effect and be in force
from and after its publication once in The Salina Evening Journal.
