A RESOLUTION PLEDGING UP TO $75 000 TO THE SALINA COMMUNITY
THEATRE ASSOCIATION (SCTA) OVER FIVE YEARS FOR THE PURPOSE OF
CONSTRUCTING A NEW PARKING LOT TO ACCOMODATE ITS BUILDING
EXPANSION PROJECT.
WHEREAS, the Salina Community Theatre Association (SCTA) has operated out of the
current community theatre building since 1972 and has provided the community with hundreds of
the highest quality performances; and
WHEREAS, the SCTA is currently in the planning stages of a $3.4 million theatre
expansion project, the primarily purpose to invest in our communities youth by significantly
theatrical programs offerings and opportunities; and
WHEREAS, in order to improve existing parking conditions, respond to future parking
demands resulting in the building expansion project, improve pedestrian safety, the public interest is
served by the City's participation in the estimated cost in additional parking purposed to be added to
the northeast corner of the Salina Community Theatre site. SO, NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOVED by the Governing Body of the City of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. The Governing Body expresses the intent of the City of Salina to pledge up to
$75,000 to the Salina Community Theatre Association, to be paid in equal annual installments over
five years commencing in 2010, for the purpose of constructing a new parking lot to accommodate
its building expansion project upon the following conditions:
1. That the parking improvements are deemed necessary by the City Commission in
its independent consideration of the PDD required in conjunction with the current
theatre expansion project; and
2. That the PDD required in conjunction with the current theatre expansion project is
approved by the Governing Body.
Section 2. This expression of intent is subject to future appropriation by the Governing
Body for future fiscal budget years.
Section 3. That this resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption.
