1559 Housing Project1 1 C] , Ordinance No. 5882 of the City of Salina, Kansas, introduced on August 2, 1951, passed on August 9.T 1954, and published in the Salina Journal August 12, 1954, is intended by the Board of Commissioners of the City to legalize, so far as the laves and ordi- nances of said city are concerned, for the time stated ins aid ordi- nance, the continued maintenance and operation of the temporary veter- ans' housing facilities hereinafter identified; and WHEREAS;, this Board has found and recitied in its Resolution No. 1487, passed September 13, 1954, and is now fully cognizant of the fact that the housing comprising said project is urgently needed because of a particularly acute housing shortage in Salina, Kansas; SO, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Ommnission- ers of the City of Salina, Kansas: This Board finds that on the basis of such local need and local acceptability, the structures of the twenty -unit housing project, KANS-V-1.4181, are satisfactory for long-term housing use if (1) said structures are kept in a proper state of preservation and repair; (2) if the City of Salina hereinafter amend existing Ordinance No. 5882 of said City so as to provide for an extension of such use after September 1, 1957, upon condition such housing be used only for married students of Kansas Wesleyan University, their spouses and children; and this Board does therefore respectfully request the Public Housing Adminis- tration to approve an exception to the Lanham Act and to waive the re- moval requirements of Section 313 thereof so far as said housing is concerned.
