1558 Flood ProtectionRESOLUTION NUME{ER 1558
A RESOLUTION pertaining to proposed flood protection works for the
City of Salina, with participation by the United States of America:
WHEREAS,�the Congress of the United States of America has
duly -adopted Public Laa► 566, the same being expressive of proposed
public works; and
WHEREAS, said -document includes and approves flood protection
works for the City of Salina, Kansas;; and
WHEREAS, the Corps of Engineers has instituted a program for .
a study of river and'stream stabilization as.part of its system of flood
control, which program is'particularly favored by the Board of Commission-
ers of the City of Salina'.. Kansas; and
WHEREAS, before such approved plan can be implemented, it will
be necessary for the (3ongress of the United States of America to provide
funds for the acquisition of right-of-way providing for changes in high-
ways., the construction of bridges, and all other costs that might accrue
to it under the proposed plan; and
WIHREA.S, the Board of Commission lb of the City of Salm, Kansas,
deems it in the public interest that said flood protection works be
constructed and said flood protection plan be carried out in all details;
and
SO, NOIR, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMW ISSIONERS
of the City of Salina, Kansan:
That it earnestly solicits the Congress of the United States of
America to appropriate sufficent funds and monies and make the same
available tothe Corps of Engineers of the United States of America in
order that such agency may draftplans and specifi cat ons and perform
all work necessary and incidental thereto for the construction of such
works; and so that the City of Salina, Kansas, may be advised therefrom
the nature and extent of its duties in order to facilitate the imple-
mentation of such plan.
That the City Clerk of the City of Salina, Kansas, be and he
is hereby directed to forward a copy of this Resolution to the Honorable
Andrew F. Schoeppel, the Honorable Frank Carlson, the Honorable Wint Smith,
the Director of the Budget, and Major General Samuel'D. Sturgis of the
Corps of Engineers, aforesaid.
