A RESOLUTION directing and ordering a public hearing on the advisability
of street improvements in certain districts and giving notice of such hear-
ings.
BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina,Kansas:
That public hearing shall be had by the Board of Commissioners of the
City of Salina, Kansas, on the advisability of the following improvements:
(a) The paving with concrete, 28 feet wide, toe of gutter to toe of
gutter, Shawnee Avenue from the south line of Crawford Avenue to the east
line of Seminole Avenue.
(b) The paving with concrete, 28 feet wide, toe of gutter to toe of
gutter, Seminole Avenue from the west line of Shawnee Avenue totie north
line of Republic Avenue.
(c) The paving with co=r6tq,20 feet wide, toe of gutter to toe of
gutter, Mohawk Avenue from the, south line of Lot 16, Block 6, of Sunset
Manor Addition,.to the north line of Republic Avenue.
(d) The paving with concrete, 28 feet wide, toe of gutter to toe of
gutter, Franklin Avenue from the east line of Mohawk to the west line of
Shawnee.
on the 2nd day of June, 1959s at 4:00 o'clock P. M. in the Commission
Room in the City Hallws provided by Section 4, Chapter 99, Session Laws of
1957, State of Kansas.
The City Clerk shall publish the following notice of such public hearing
in the official city newspaper in the manner provided by law.
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON THE
IMPROVEMENT OF CERTAIN STREETS
Notice is hereby given that the Board of Commissioners of the City of
Salina, Kansas, will meet for the purpose of holding a public' hearing, as
provided by Section 41 Chapter 99, Session Lpws of 1957, State of Kansas,
in the Commission Room of the City Hall on the 2nd day of June, 1959, at
4:00 o'clock P. M. to consider the advisability of the following improvements.
(a) The paving with concrete, 28 feet wide, toe of gutter to toe of
gutter, Shawnee Avenue from the south line of Crawford Avenue to the east
line of Seminole Avenue.
(b) The paving with concrete, 28 feet wide,toe of gutter to toe -of
gutter, Seminole Avenue from the west line of Shawnee Avenue to the north
1�ne of Republic Avenue.
(c) The paving with concrete, 20 feet wide, toe of gutter to toe of
gutter, Mohawk Avenue from the south line of Lot 16, Block 6, of Sunset
Manor Addition, to the north line of Republic Avenue.
(d) The paving with concrete, 28 feet wide, toe of gutter to toe of
gutter, FranklinAvenue from the east line of Mohawk -to the west line of
Shawnee.
The estimated or probable cost -of such improvement is $90,599.96.,
The extent or boundaries of the proposed improvement district to be
assessed is:
That part of the City of Salina,Saline County, Kansas, described as
follows, to -wit:

(1) Beginning at a point on the south line of Crawford Avenue and 75
feet east of the east line of Shawnee Avenue;_
(2) thence west along the south line of Crawford Avenue 466 feet;
(3) thence south and parallel to Broadway -Boulevard,, 502.2 feet;
(4) thence west to the east line of Broadway Boulevard;
(5) thence 'south following the east l ne;of Broadway Boulevard to
the north line of Republic Avenue;'
(6) thence east along the north line of Republic Avenue to the east
dine of Block 1, Sunset Manor Addition;
(7) thence north along the east line of saidBlock 11 Sunset Manor
Addition to the northeast corner of said Block;
(8) thence west 110 feet;
(9) thence north 60 feet;
(10) thence east 110 feet;
(11) thence north following the east line of Block 21.Sunset Manor Addi-
to the northeast corner thereof.
(12) thence.east 75 feet;
(13) thence north parallel to and' -75 feet east of the east line of
Shawnee Avenue to the south line of Crawford Avenue or place of
beginning.
The proposed apportionment of cost between the improvement district and
the City at large is as follows:
I (a) 'City at large to pay for all improvements in.intersection.
(b) City at large to pay for all excavation, fill and haul to bring -
streets to grade.
(c) City at large to pay for minor changes, such as adjustment of
manholes, replacement of approaches to side streets and adjust-
ments to fit paved private driveways.
(d) City Water Department to install w ater stubs including valves
and hydrants prior to pavement.
II (a) Private property to pay for all pavement other than I (a)
(b) Private property to pay for excavation in streets of the
thickness of the pavement.
(c) Each lot or parcel which is not connected to water service
will be connected and charged for the service line and tap,
and $1.50 per front foot of lot or parcel of land. Each
lot or parcel not connected to the sanitary sewer will have
a stub run from.the main 66 back of curb and will be charged
for the service line.
(d) The lots or pieces of ground which have heretofore been assessed
for the cost of Craw ford Avenue, Republic Avenue and that part of
Frqnklin Avenue from Shawnee to M.O.P. Railroad shall not be
assessed on this project for rranklin from Mohawk to Shawnee.
(e) The method of assessment shallbe made on the Square Foot basis.
The assessment against each lot, piece or parcel of land shall
be made in direct proportion to its fraction of the total area
of property deemed benefited.

III. Adoption•of Assessments.
The as.:sessments with accrued interest, shall be levied as a
special tax upon the property included therein concurrent with
general property taxes and shall be payable in twenty (20) equal
annual irs tallments.
The hearing may be adjourned from time to time -until the Board of
Commissioners shall have made findings b resolutions as to the advisability
of the improvement, the nature of the improvement, the estimated cost, the
boundaries of the improvement district, the method of assessment and the
apportionment of the cost betv,.een the district andthe City at large, all
as finally determined by the Board of Commissiom rs, provided, the area of
the improvement district may be less than, but shall not exceed, the area
proposed tobe assessed as stated in t is notice without giving notice and
holding a new hearing on the improvement. All persons desiring to be heard
with reference to the proposed improvement will b e heard at this meeting.
