A Resolution directing and ordering a public hearing on the
advisability of street improvements in certain districts] and giving
notice of such hearings.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOAWOF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF SALINA,
KANSAS:
That a public hearing shall be had by the Board ofCommissioners
of the City of Salina, Kansas, on the advisability of the following
improvements:
i
(a) Paving with six (6) inch reinforced concrete of all street s
in Sunset Manor Addition except those on the east side of Broadway
Boulevard;
(b) Paving with.six (6) inch reinforced concrete all streets in
Edgemere Addition except Willow and Redwood Drive from Lot Thirteen (13)
Block Five (5) South',, Birch Drive from Lot .Ten (10), Block Eight (8)

(d) Paving with seven (7) inch reinforced concrete of Crawford Avenue
from the West line of Steahlin Avenue to the west line of Edgemere
Addition.

room in the City Hall as provided by Section 4 Chapter 99, Session Laws
of 1957. State= of Kansas.
The City Clerk shall publish the following notice !of such public
hearing in the official city newspaper in the manner provided by law.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON THE
IMPROVEMENT OF CERTAIN STREETS
Notice is hereby given that the Board of Commissioners of the City
of Salina, Kansas, will meet for the purpose of holding! public hearing
as provided by Section 4, Chapter 99, Session Laws of 1957, State: of
Kansas , in the Commission room of the City Hall on the first day of
July, 1958, at,4:00 o'clock P. M. to consider the advisability of the
following improvements:
i
(a) Paving with six (6) inch reinforced concrete If all streets
in Sunset Manor Addition except those -on the east side of Broadway
Boulevard-

(b) Paving with skx (6) inch reinforced concrete ',all streets in
Edgemere Addition except Willow and Redwood Drive from lot Thirteen
(13) Block Five (5) South, Birch Drive from Lot Ten (10), Block Eight
(8) South, Hemlock Drive from Lot Eight (8) Block Nine (9) South, and

(c) Paving with six (6) inch reinforced concrete of. all street s in

The eztimated or probable cost of such improvements is $415,970.95.
The extent or boundarise of the proposed improvement district to be
assessed is:

That part of the City of Salina, Saline County, Kansas, described
as follows, to -wit:
Beginning on the south line.of.Crawford Avenue and the west
line of Edgemere Addition; thence east on the south line of Crawford
Avenue to the point of intersection of the west line of Bankers Addition;
thence soutth on the west line of Bankers Addition to the northeast
corner of Lot 5, Block 20, Sunset Manor Addition; thence southeasterly
to the intersection of the north line of Block 8, Sunset Manor Addition
and the west line of Broadway Boulevard; thence siuuth along the west
line of Broadway Boulevard to the southeast corner of Lot 15, Block 3,
Likins-Foster Addition; t ence following the south line of said Addi-
tion to the east line of Cherokee Drive; thence north on the east line
of Cherokee Drive to the nort line of. Republic Avenue; thence east
130.7 feet; thence north to a point on the -south line of Pueblo -Avenue
which is 131.2 feet east of the east line of Cherokee Drive; thence west
to the southwest corner of Lot 26, Block 9,. Edgemere Addition, thence
north to the northwest corner-.of.said..Lot 26, thence west tothe south-
west corner of Lot 20., Block 8, Edgemere Addition; thence northto the
southwest corner of Lot 13, Block 5., thence west -to -the south west corner
of Lot.224: block 7, Edgemere Addition; -.thence -north to the southwest corner
of Lot 28, Block 5, Edgemere.Addition; thence west to the.southeast-corner
of Lot 45 Block 6, Edgemere Addition;..thence-west to the..southwest corner
of same lot Lot 6; thence north along.the west.line of Edgemere Addition
to the point of beginning.
The proposed apportionment ofcost between the -improvement district
and the city at large is as follows:
I (a) City at large to pay for.intersections including
excavation of same.
(b) City at large to pay fcr..minor_,changer.such as adjust-
ment of manholes, replacement. of_ unrepairable- curb-- and
gutter, approaches to side- streets.and_other.incidentals
for,completing project.
(c) City at large to pay for. Crawford Avenue from the. -west
line of Steahlin to the west.line of'Edgemere Addition
II (a) Private property to pay for pavement and excavation
made for pavement, except -as set out- in_ I (a) and I (c).
(b) Method of assessment shall-be..on the squarefoot. basis.
The assessments against -each lot, piece of parcel of
land shall -be made in direct proportion to.its_-fraction
of the total area of property deemed benefited.
III Adoption of Assessments.
The assessments with accrued interest, shall be levied
as especial tax upon the property included therein -concurrent
with general property.taxes:and shall be payable.in-twenty
(20) equal annual installments.
The hearing may be adjourned from time_tp time until the Board.of
Commissioners shall have made findings by resolution as to the advisability
of the improvement, the nature.of.the.improvement,. the estimated cost,
the boundaries of the improvement -district. -the method of assessment and
of the apportionment of the cost betwtiaen the district and the City at
large, all as.finally determined by the Board of Commissioners, provided,
the area of the improvement district may be less than, but shall not exceed,
the area proposed to be assessed as stated in.this.notice without giving
notice and holding a new hearing on.the improvement. All persons desiring
to be heard wkith reference to the proposed improvement will be heard at.this
meeting.
