2215 Flood Protection56 VE IT SOLUTIQR_N 1.7 2215 A RESOLUTION pertaining to the continuing Flood Protection for the City of Salina, Kansas, with participation by the United States of America. WHEREAS,, the Congress of the United States of America has duly adopted Public Lada 566, the same being expressive of proposed public works; and WHEREAS, said document includes and approves flood protection works fot the Wilson Reservoir; and WHEREAS, the Corps of Engineers has instituted a program for a study of river and stream bank stabilization as part of its sy?tem.,of,flood control, which program is particularly favored by the Board of Commissioners=.of the City of Salina,. Kansas.; and WHEREAS, the intiial phase of said flood protection works is now started,- WHEREAS, tarted; and WHEREAS, before such approved works can be implemented, it will be nese sorry for the Congress of the United States of America to providefor such im- plementation by further appropriations of money; and WHCREA, the great majority of the people of Salina, Kansaa,favor and enthusiastically endorce the continuation and completion of the plan of the Corps of Engis: era of the United States of America for flood protection of Salina, Kansas; also the entire project and plan for the Missouri and Arka River Basics, and the Wilson Reservoir; and WHEREAS, the Board of Commi.ssiossssof the City of Salina, Kansas;, deems it in the public interest that said flood protection works be constructed and sakd flood protection plan be carried out in all details; and SO NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED By the Board of Commissions rs of the City ofYLalina, Kansas: That it earnestly solicits the Congress of the United States of America to further appropriate sufficient funds and monies and make the same available tothe corps of Engineers of the United States of America in order such agency may Et continue with the construion of such works and do all things necessary and incidental thereto to the completion of said projects, That the City Clerk of the City of Salim,, Kansas, be and he is hereby directed to forward a copy of tFis Resolution to the Honorable Andrew F. Schoeppel, the Honorable Frank Carlson, the Honorable Wint Smith, the Director of the 'Budget, Honorable Clarence Cannon, Chairman of the Appropriations Committee of the House of Representatives, of the United States, Honorable Car: Hayden, Chairman of Appropriations Committee of the SenAte of the United Staten and Major General Samuel D.
