RESOLUTION NUMBER 30
A RESOLUTION suggesting the City Manager and his staff re-evaluate the
present organization and work schedule within the Fire Department.
WHEREAS, it has been called to our attention that certain members of the
Salina Fire Department are dissatisfied with the present procedure of scheduling
of vacations as proposed by their membership in 1967 and approved by the City
Commission at that time; and
WHEREAS, we question that the present three platoon system, amounting to
ten (10) duty days per month per man, permits adequate training of personnel
and sufficient fire prevention inspections; and
WHEREAS, it is deemed advisable to re-evaluate the present organization
and work schedules within the Fire Department.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of the City
of Salina, Kansas:
Section 1. That it is suggested the City Manager and his staff consider
returning the Fire Department to the two platoon system and placing the
Fire Department Inspectors on a forty hour workweek schedule by not later
than January 1, 1.971.
Adopted by the Board of Commissioners and approved.by the Mayor this
19th day of October, 1970.
