AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 8, ARTICLE I, DIVISION 1 OF THE
SALINA CODE BY ADDING SECTIONS 8-15.1 AND 8-15.2 PROVIDING FOR A LOCAL

1608.1 PERTAINING TO ROOF LOADS.
N BE ORDAINED by the Governing Body of Salina, Kansas:
' Section 1. The Salina Code is hereby amended by adding section to be numbered 8=15.1,
which sections reads as follows:
"Sec. 8-15.1. Amendment of Section 1607.11.1 of the International Building
Code.
[Section 1607.11.1 of the International Building Code is hereby amended to read as
follows.]
1607.11.1 Distribution of roof loads. Where uniform roof live loads are reduced to less
than 20 psf in accordance with Section 1607.11.21 and are involved in the design of
structural members arranged so as to create continuity, the minimum applied loads shall be
the full dead loads on all spans in combination with the roof live loads on adjacent spans or
on alternate spans, whichever produces the greatest effect. See Section 1607.11.2 for
minimum roof live loads and Section 7-05 7.5 ofASCE for partial snow loading."
Section 2. The Salina Code is hereby amended by adding section to be numbered 8-15.2,
which sections reads as follows:
"See. 8-15.2. Amendment of Section 1608.1 of the International Building Code.
[Section 1608.1 of the International Building Code is hereby amended to read as
follows.)
' 1608.1 General. Design snow loads shall be determined in accordance with Section 7 of
ASCE 7-05, but the design roof load shall not be less than that determined by Section 1607."
Section 3. That Section 8-15.1 and 8-15.2 are hereby added.
Section 4. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its
adoption and publication once in the official city newspaper.
