1378 Street Improvements Iron Avenue(Published in the Salina Evening Journal, July �®1947)
ORDMANCH NO.
An ordinance prdviding for extra paving on Iron avenue and levying an
assessment against the property benefitted thereby to pay for the
cast of the same.
'Whereas, the city engineer has ordered paved that part of Iron `ave-
nue between the west end of the ,vest approach of the Iron avenue bridge
and the tracks of the Union Pacific Railroad company, and a driveway
past of said railway tracks and it mmed I iately north of the center of Iron
avenue, and the cost of, doing; such paving is hereby ascertained and found
to be the sum of One hundred; fifteen (A6) dollars, Therefore,
Be ` it ordained by the IFlayor and Councilmen of the cite of Salina.:
Section 1. That the work of they city engineer in ordering in and
having done the paving of that part of Iron avenue above described is
hereby ra.tifiead, and approved and such improvement is hereby declared
necessary to be done.
Sec. 2• That for the purpose of paying the cost of such paving and
improvement there is hereby levied and assessed against the lots and
pieces of ground betwee=n Fourth street and Fifth streetto the center of
the 'bloc's on either side of said Iron' avenue a special assessment, said
special assessMent:being based on the special valuation and appraisement
of said lots and pieces of ground heretofore made by three Ix dis in.-
terested appraisers appointed by the mayor and council, said special
assessments being* against the property and in the amounts as follows

Sec. 3. That such assessments shall be due and
o#e installment, and immediately upon the 'passage and publication of this

ordinance the cite clerk shell mail to the owners of the property
described in section 2 of this ordinance a notice of the amount of such
assessment, and all of such amounts as remcain.unpaid when the bands for f
y
the laving of said Iron avenue shall be issued shall be certified by
the cite clerk to the count; clerk as one assessment to be placed upon
the tax rolls and collected as other taxes and assessments are collected.
Sec. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and
after its publication once in the Salina Evening Journal.
