1349 Construction of Sewer -Eighth Street(Published in the Salina Evening Journal Nov 1906. ORD INAIT CR_ NO An ordinance providing for the construction of a certain sewer, on Eighth Street in the city of Salina, Kansas, and letting the contract therefor. Whereas, specifications have been filed by the city engineer for a twelve inch lateral se-,,ier on Eighth street, in the cite of Salina, Kansas, from Mulbermy street south to Prescott avenue, a distance of about 2045 feet, as more particularly described in said specifications; and, Whereas, an estimate of the cost of said sewer above described has been rp-de by the city, engineer and is now on file with the city clerk of said city; and, Whereas, the mayor and council of said city herebvr declares that V t he construction of said se-uer is an improvement necessary to be made) Therefore, Be it ordained by the 2u11a.-vor and Councilmen of the city of Salina: Section 1. That a xxx:tx,=k twelve inch lateral sewer on Eighth street betirureen Mulber?-W .,f street and Prescott avenue be built and that a contract therefor be and is herebir let to the Salina Plumbing company, of Salina, Kansas, 'at and for the uniform price of eight-X—Cive, (85) cents per lineal foot, said price to cover and include the cost of all labor for making the excavation necessary therefor and laying the pipe therefor i and the cost of all 2-ne.-It"erial furnished and necessary therefor, , which said price of ct eight.—five cents per lineal foot does not. exceed the estimate of the cost of such work and improvement heretofore made, by t -he cit -y, 4 W, engineer and now on file with the city clerk of said city, and a further contract is hereby 'let to the said Salina PluriBing -company for the con- struction of all man -holes on said s-werat and for the uniform price of $32-50 each and forthe construction of all catch basins on said sewer at and for the uniform price of $22-50 wach, which said prices shall include and cover all work and Lw..terial necessary t,o construct and place such man holes and catch basins, and Which prices do not exceed the estimate: of the )3At thereof made by the city engineer now on file with- the said city cleek. That all such work and improvement as contracted and provided for by section 1 of this ordinance: shall be done in strict. compliance with the city engineer's specifications therefor now on file, *th the city clerk. See. 3. That the cost and expense of the construction of said sewer shall be assessed against all lots and pieces of ground contained in the city of Salina as a se-,.,Yer district as .p rovided provided bv Ordinance No. 613, passed and approved December 23, 1887, and that the iwyor and council ]�j r� are hereb.,T authorized to provide for the paymenu4- of the cost t'...ereof V�,V� installments instead of levying the entire tax or special assessr-lent at, one time; and for such installments the mayor and council are herebyr 411 authorized to issue improvement bonds of the city of Salina, pavab-Le in .M.stallments of e.qual. a -mounts each year, none of vh-ich. bonds or an/ of the installments thereof shall run longer than ten -,ears or bear interest a exceeding five per cent per anniLm; provided, that such bonds shall not be issued in an a,_iount in excess of the contract price for the work or reprove -- rent:, except that the installment coupons shall include the interest on such installments until the maturity thereof. Sec. 4. That in consideration of the prer.,iises, the said Salina Plumbing company, is hereby, released from that part of its contract with .i the city of Salina of date of September 13, 1906,,which provides for the construction of a twelve inch serer on RUghth street begi nning at the= manhole on South street and -west of the center of Eighth street and ex- tending a distance of 1,00 feet to a point north of the center of Pres- cott avenue, Viand said Salina Plumbing Company shall release said city of Salina fm- m that part. of said contract, for t;he setvrer last hereinbefore described. oec. 5.
