excerpting at the crossing of streets avenues and alle,ys,where said
pavement shall be 100 feet in width or from lot line to lot line.

Section 4. That it is necessary and hereby ordered that Santa FS AlTone

profiles of the city engineer of said City to be prepared and filed in
the office of the city clerk of said City, and. the city engineer is
hereby authorized and directed to prepare plans, specifications and
profiles, and an estimate of cost of saie pairing and

Section lThat after the pass-a-ge, and publication of this ordinan0e
the mayor and council. shall appoint three disinterested house holders

all lots and pieces of ground liable to taxation for the improvements,
shall, rithin ten days after h'aving been notified of their appoint-mentt
proceed to appraise said lots and, pieces of ground liable to taxation,)

making said appraisement shall return the same to the city council at
the first meeting thereof, after such ap
ppraisement shall have been cow
pleted and after said appraisement is returned to thel city cOune the
for the purpose of hearing complaints and equalizinF said appraisement, of
which special session He notice shall be given in the official city
papers and at said special session the mayor and council shall if they
deem it just and proper, alter or change said appraisement.
Section I After appraisement and euqalization has been made accord-
ing to law, the city clerk shall advertise for bids for the construction
of said paving, curbing, excavating, etc. in the official city paper, and
such other journals and p"Wications as the mayor and council may direct
and the contract shall be let to the lowest responsible biddert as deter-
mined by the mayor and council, forthe kind and character of paving and
curbing which shall be determined upon by the mayor and council; the said
mayor and council reserving the right to reject any and all bids.
Section 0 ?or the purpose of paying for said pavement, curbingp
excatation etc., the -,-.,ayor and council are hereby authorized and directdd
to issue bonds of the City of qalina in amOuntf*t to exceed the contract
-price, and to run for a period of ten Q0) years, and be paybble in ten
equal annual installments, one-tenth (1-10) in one yeas,. one-tenth
Q-10) in two years, aM one-tenth fl -10) eqch year thereafter until the
same shall be fully pa Ii d ,

annum; which bonds shall be payable at the Piscal Agency ,the State of
Kansas in 7ew York City, and for the purpose of paying principal and
interest on said bonds as they severally become Me the mayor and council
shall each year during the life of said bonds, levy an assessment against
the lots and. pieces of ground liable to taxation for the improvementj,
an amount sufficient to pay the principal and interest for that year,
provided-that,?or the purp6se Of drfraying the cOst of paving and other-
wise improving the squares and areas formed by the crossing of streets,
avenues and alleys the assessment shall be made against all taxable
property in the City; and the City cierk,sha;; certify said aSses=its
