An ordinance providing for the construction of certain sewers in the
City of Salina, Kansas.
Be it ordained by the Mayor and Council -men of the City of Salina:
Section 1: That the following described sewers be built in the City
of Salina, to -wit:
A fifteen (15) inch sewer in the center of the alley between
Seventh and Eighth� Streets, beginning at the man. -hole on Ash Street
and extending south to the north line of Iron Avenue, a distance of 797
feet.
A twelve (12) inch swuer on Eighth Street beginning.at the man -hole
on South Street and west of the center of Eighth Street, and extending
south a distance of 1v+70 feet to a point north of the center of Prescott
Avenue.
A twelve (12) inch sewer on Tenth Street and Park Avenue commencing
at a point on South Street west of the center of Tenth Street, and 34
feet north of the south line of South Street, running hence south on
Tenth Street until- it crosses Morrison's Avenue, Washington Avenue and
Prescott Avenue, thence south, along First Avenue to a point on the north
side of Park Avenue a d-istance of 2,034 feet.
A. twenty-four '(24) inch sewer on iron Avenue,, commencing at a point
north of the I center of Iron Avenue and 10 feet westof the west line of
Santa Fe Avenue and extending east 667 feet wxzt to the Smokey Hill
River to the water level.
A twelve (240N�J_nch sewer on Viralnut Street commencing at the man -hole
on Tenth Street and extending west 330 feet to the center of the junction
of Vra"1nut and Eleventh Streets, at which point a man -hole will be
constructed.
A fifteen (15) inch se�,,rer on Santa Fe Avenue commencing at the man-
hole on Pine Street and extending south a- distance of 125 feet, said
seer to be a combined sewer, both sanitary and drainage.
Section 2: That such sewers shall be built and constructed in full
and complete accordance with. the plans and specifications therefor of the

are hereby specifically referred to, incorporated inand made a part of
this ordinance, inc�+lading the estimate of cost made by the City engineer
and now on file in the office of the City Clerk
Section 3: That the City Clerk having been heretofore authorized
and directed by the City Council to adverti.,se for bids 'Mr t"'6' C0 -
ion of .said seti,rers, such authorization is hereby confirmed and ratified;

and the City Council hereby find that "��
is the lowest responsible bidder for the construction of such
sewers, and that a contract for the building and construction of such
sewers be, and the same is hereby let to the said

proposal is hereby incorporated in and rade a part of this ordinance.
Section 4: That the costs and expenses of the construction of said
sewers shall. be assessed against all lots and pieces of ground contained
in the City of Salina as a sevrer district, as provided for by ordinance
#613, passed and approved Tecernber 23rd.2 18372 and that the Mayor and
Council are hereby authorized to provide for the payment of the cost
thereof by instal3r_2ents instead of levying the entire tax or special
assessment at one time: and for such imsta llment the Jvjayo r and Council
are authorized to issue improvement bonds of the City of Salina, payable
in installments of equal amounts each year, none of which bonds or any of
the installments thereof shall run longer than ten (10) years, or bear
interest exceeding 51< per annum, provided that such bonds shall not be
issued in an amount in excess of -the contract price for the work or
improvement, except that the installment coupons shall include the inter-
est on all such installments until the maturity thereof.
Section 5: That the City Attorney is hereby directed to prepare
contract with ith said
for the construction of said sewers in accordance with the City Engineers
plans and specifications therefor, the advertisement for bids and proposal
of said contractor, and the sax�ie shall be executed by the j,,;i'ayor and
City Clerk on behalf of the said City.
Section 6: This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and
after its pixblication once in the Sal' �a, vening �o��rnal.
