An ordinance providing for the construction and maintenance of a dyke in
Elm Daly:, Addition to the city of Salina.
De it ordained: by the Ih yor and Councilmen of he city of Salina: j
Section 1. Thp property owners having consented thereto, it is
hereby orderdd that the city of Salina construct and maintain a dyke east
of Dry Creek as follows: Beginning at the south side of State street,
thence directly north. across State stree-t to the alley between Park,, xtxmt
No. 3 and Block. No. 5 in Elm Dale addition to said city, thence north
&long the west side of Block 5 to and across Ash street,, thence north
along the west side of Block 9, in said Ehi Dale addition," thence north
er'lyr and northwesterly over and across Block No. tine (1) of said addition
to and connecting with andXbutting against the embankment of the Uiilon
Pacific Railroad company; said dyke to be constructed strictly in con--
forr.iity with the specifications of the city engineer of said city now on
file in the off ice of the city clerk of said city; which specifications
are hereby specifically refereed to and are made a part of this mt ordi-
nance.
Sec. S. Publication for bids having been duff and legally made,
the contract for the building and construction of said dyke: mentioned in
section one of this ordinance is hereby awarded to I. L Stevenson -at
nine (9) cents per cubic yard, he being the lowest responsible bidder;
Provided, that the nur7loer of.yards to be paid for shall not exceed' the
nimCber of cubic yards contained in the estimate of the cite engineer now
on file with the city clerk.
Sec. 3 This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and:
after its publication once in the Salina Evening Journal.
