An ordinance regulating the, propelling and running of automobiles in the
city of Salina,.
Be it ordained by the Mayor. arid Councilmen of the cite of Salina:
Section 1. It. shall be unlawful for any person to propel or run,
or cause- to be propelled or run, an -v autllozriobile at a greater rate of
sped. than kr ,,)4rt miles an hour upon' Santa Fel avenue between Ash and Mul-
berry streets, upon Iron avenue between Fourth and Ninth streets,
uponFifth street between Ash and Walnut streets, upon Seventh street
between Iron avenue and Walnut street, and upon Ash street between Fifth
and Ninth streets in the city of Salina; and it shall. be unlawful for any
person to propel or -run, or -'cause to be propelled or run, any automobile
upon any of the atreets, i&Xx avenues or alleys, not hereinbefore
boned, in th.e city of. Salina, at a greater rate of speed than :'+
miles an hour; provided, that in turning corners from one street to,
another it shall be unlawful. for any person to propel or run, or cau e to
be -.propelled or run, any automobil.e at a greaten rate of speed than
miles per hour:
Sec. 2. Any person. prop ell ing or running, or causing to be
propelled or run, any automobile upon any of the streets, avenues or,
alleys in the cite of Salina, shall give warning of the approach of such
automobile, when danger or accident is imminent to persons, animals or,
vehicles,,by, sounding a bell, whistle, horn or gong; such person shall
also decrease the speed of such automobile, or stop the same if necessary,
when ' any animal shows signs of becoming frightened, or when the rider or:
driver of such animal requests or x ±x- signals such person to stop or
decrease: the speed of such automobile; and such person shall, between the
hours of sunset and sunrise, carry a lamp on such automobile, and shall
exhibit a light in the direction in v!hich such automobile is" proceeding;
provided, that nothing herein shall. require the sounding of any bell.,
whistle, horn or gong when it is apparent that the same would increase the
danger of accident,.
Sec. 3. Any person violating any of the provisions of this or-
dinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction
thereof in the police: court shall. be fined in an�� sum not,less than five'
dollars '($5.00) nor more: than fifty dollars ($50.00 )- for each offense,
