04 Fire Dept Longevity Pay CHARTER ORDINANCE NO. ~ A CHARTER 0RDINANCE EXEMPTING THE CITY OF SALINA, KANSAS, FROM THE PROVISIONS OF K.S.A. 13-791 WHICH PROVIDES LONGEVITY PAY FOR REGULAR APPOINTED MEMBERS OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF SALINA, KANSAS: Section 1. That the City of Salina, Kansas, a city of the first class having a population of more than 25,000 inhabitants and not more tha~ S0~000 inhabitants, by the power vested in it by Article 12, Section 5~ of the Constitution of the State of Kansas, hereby e~ects to exempt and does exempt itself from, and makes inapplicable to it, K.S.A. 13-791, which is not applicable icities of the first class, ~nd which provides unifor~nly to alli that the Pegular%y appointed members of the fire department, after having completed three years service shall receive a longe- vity pay for eac~ year in addition to three years the sum of two dollars pep month over and above the base pay for firemen in such cities. Section 2. iThis ordinance shall be published once a week for two consecutive weeks in The Salina Journal, the official city newspaper. Section 3. IThis is a chapter ordinance and shall take effect sixty-one (61) d~ys after final publication~ unless a sufficient petition fop a re/ferendum is filed and a referendum held on the ordinance as provided in Article 12, Section 5, Subdivision (c) of the Constitution of Kansas in which case the ordinance shall become effective approved by a majority of the electD~s voting thereon.
