A CHARTER 0RDINANCE EXEMPTING THE CITY OF SALINA, KANSAS,
FROM THE PROVISIONS OF K.S.A. 13-791 WHICH PROVIDES LONGEVITY
PAY FOR REGULAR APPOINTED MEMBERS OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF SALINA,
KANSAS:
Section 1. That the City of Salina, Kansas, a city of the
first class having a population of more than 25,000 inhabitants
and not more tha~ S0~000 inhabitants, by the power vested in it
by Article 12, Section 5~ of the Constitution of the State of
Kansas, hereby e~ects to exempt and does exempt itself from, and
makes inapplicable to it, K.S.A. 13-791, which is not applicable

after having completed three years service shall receive a longe-

Section 2. iThis ordinance shall be published once a week
for two consecutive weeks in The Salina Journal, the official
city newspaper.
Section 3. IThis is a chapter ordinance and shall take effect
sixty-one (61) d~ys after final publication~ unless a sufficient
petition fop a re/ferendum is filed and a referendum held on the
ordinance as provided in Article 12, Section 5, Subdivision (c)
of the Constitution of Kansas in which case the ordinance shall
become effective approved by a majority of the electD~s voting
thereon.
Adopted by tile Governing Body by not less than two-thirds
of the members el,~ct voting in favor thereof and approved by the
